Arrival Story:
I only know that last few months of Annie's history. Several months ago she was adopted from the Humane Society by a family who had never had a dog before. Annie is very much an Aussie and letting her go home with an inexperienced dog owning family was a huge mistake. The lady who had her works at a local grocery store and knowing that I have the same type of dogs asked for help. When I explained what Annie was needing....excersise, rules, attention, mental stimulation etc. and that she would need to take a class to learn how to handle Annie she admitted that none of that was what she thought having a dog was going to be like. She was going to return Annie to the pound. I offered to take Annie in and find her a forever home that she truely deserves. And....so here she sits in my lap making it hard to type. *UPDATE* I have since learned that in Annie's short two years of life she has been in at leaste four homes and three shelters. I learned her actual birthdate is in April. My oldest daughter has fallen in love with her and convinced her father and I to let her keep Annie.

Bio:
Annie is nearly 2 years old, weighs 50 pounds and is about 22" @ the shoulder. She is a smooth coated red merle and white, very flashy. She is also a bobtail. She may be mixed with German Shorthaired Pointer and I have had some Catahoula breeders tell me they see some of that. Whatever she is ...she is gorgeous and acts very much Aussie. Our family has decided to keep Annie, so her forever home is right here in Portland Oregon with us.

My almost 16 year old daughter Elise, has convinced us that she can be the best companion for Annie, so Anna Banana has found her home at last. She has spent all summer with Elise connected to her hip and since school has started Annie has felt a little anxiety. She watches the doors and windows and waits. When Elise does come home the dog comes unglued wih excitement so we have been working on teaching her some self control. Elise will be starting an obedience class with her this fall and then will probably start into agility. She tried flyball with her this summer and Annie loves it...Elise isn't all that thrilled with it and would rather do agility. We have discovered that Annie is very property protective and even more protective of Elise. With this knowlege we have made it a requirement that Annie goes with Elise on all dates!
Annie is the busiest dog I have ever had, her mind and body are always going at warp speed. She is extremely intelligent and extremely vocal...she argues with you frequently, talks back, complains and woohoos it when she is happy. She is a handfull to say the leaste. I hope Elise is up for the challenge...I think she is.
