Leave a bone for Banjo!

Nicknames: Mom calls me all sorts of strange things: Banjo-Dobro, Li'l Dude, Mudbug, Southpaw. Her friends have come up with some too: Nakey Dog, Sir Didymus, Zoloft!, Banjo!3000, Smoove B(anjo!) and Bananas.

Quick Bio:
Likes: I luurve to have my belly rubbed. Mom and I have lots of fun. She throws my toys down the hallway and I scamper to catch them. Sometimes mom plays her music loud and we dance around like fools. My current favorite song is 'The Breaks' by Kurtis Blow.

Pet-Peeves: I hate it when my reflection takes me by surprise. I don't much care for the ghosts in this house either. Sometimes I'll just stare at a corner and bark at nothing like I'm looneytunes! I guess they think I can't see them.

Favorite Toy: I love anything I can destroy! Mom gets me lots of neat toys. Anything that squeaks and can be shredded to ribbons is cool with me. I also love my Kong (filled with liver paste, natch).

Favorite Food: I'll eat anything I can! But mom has me on a diet of Iams dry food and the occasional Snausage. Once she gave me some cheesy mushroom slices from her pizza and it freakin' OWNED! She needs to do that more often.

Favorite Walk: Around Cloverdale park and along the Fairview strip. I prance when I walk and people like to point that out. I like going down to see Stella Beatrix too, because she's superfine. She's my special lady.

Best Tricks: I make mom laugh when she's sad. I can render a chew toy worthless in one afternoon. I can make myself invisible by going under the bed. Even though my tail and snout are sticking out, I know mom can't see me. Because I can't see her.

Arrival Story: Mom saw me on petfinder.org and fell in love. It's about time somebody did, I *hated* that shelter. She drove up to Prattville, Alabama the following weekend and visited the shelter. She couldn't remember my name (she's a little flighty sometimes) so she asked to see all the small dogs available. The shelter worker showed her the only small dog they had, and it wasn't me!!! Even though she was a cutie, mom was disappointed that she wasn't the funky-lookin' dog she'd seen (that would be me, thanks). As mom was playing with the first dog, the shelter worker mentioned that there actually *was* another small dog there but she "wasn't going to show him because he has a wacky haircut" (!!!). She was talking about me! I can't help it that I was completely shaved except for my head and butt! Mom thought that was a ridiculous thing to say and asked to see me. She was soooo happy that I was the same boy from Petfinder! Even though I was trembling and wouldn't uncurl my hairless little body to get up and walk around, we took a shine to each other immediately and she took me home that day.

Bio: Mom says I'm a super-sweet, super-smart boy. I am an Aquarius, figured out with the help of my veterinarian using deductive logic. Mom believes in that kind of jive, so I figured I'd at least mention it. At the shelter they were calling me Shelby but mom just went ahead and changed my name. I'm glad she did. I like Banjo! lots better. Mom doesn't know this, but she belongs to me as much as I belong to her. Sometimes I can even get her to stay in on a Friday night... sometimes. I heard her say once that I am one of the best decisions she ever made, and that she loves me lots and lots. I wag my tail like crazy whenever I think about that.
