Running free at the Bridge

On January 29th, 2011, my beautiful golden boy collapsed and died without any warning. He was 7-1/2 and had no signs of ill health. The vet thinks the cause was an aneurysm - quite unpredictable and unpreventable. My only consolation is that Henry didn't suffer.

We miss this slobber chops more than words can say. He was my best friend and helped my broken heart heal when Megan went to the Bridge.

Love you always, sweet laddums. Living always in mummy's heart.

Danged critters!

There's this tree trunk by our driveway - mummy says it's dead. Whatever, all we know is that there's CRITTERS living in it! China and I have seen them, little itty bitty stripy things. Mummy says they're squirrels. Doesn't matter what they are, they're PESKY!

We stood on our tippy tippy toes today to try and get them, but they just disappeared.

One day. Read my lips, critters. One day.

Wow, what an honour. Thank you Dogster (big slurps and drools!)

Having a great time in our new home. The only problem is next door. Well, actually, they aren't the problem. No, it's more that our pawrents won't let me go mooching over there since I legged it at 4.30 am on Wed to see if I could find dem kitties that live there. What a hullabaloo, the pawrents tipping-toeing round the field in their night kit, with torches no less! Mummy said they looked like a right pair of eejits.

Mummy knew exactly where I'd gone, so my fun time was limited. And now I'm not allowed off my lead out in the yard because the pawrents know I'll be off in no time. It's okay down the field, but not near the house.

Party-poopers!

Be careful what you wish for ...

Its been quite a while since I set paw to keyboard. In my last diary entry, I foolishly expessed the wish that the pawrents would go away again and leave us Heather.

No such luck. Weve bloomin well EMIGRATED, haven't we! Yes, pups, we now live in a place called Prince Edward Island, not England. China and I knew summat was up when we got sent to doggy day care. That was brill, we had such a good time. But it was weird because every time we came home, there was less ands less furniture. And finally we came home one day and there was NUTHIN!

Wasn't so bad because we went to stay with Auntie Alison for a few days, and her daughters always make a super big fuss of moi. But then .....

....one day a strange man came and took us away in crates. We had to stay overnight in kennels, then they took us to a place called an Airport and they loaded us onto this plane thing. We were SO scared!

All sorts of horrid things happened after that. At one stage, we got tossed about but then it all went quiet for a long time until there was a bump. Some men took us out of the plane and left us in a cold draughty place. We really thought we had been abandoned forever. But then our mum and dad arrived, we were soooooo happy to see them and know we were safe.

So now we have a new home which is brilly because there's a wood burning stove to lie and bake ourselves and a HUGE field out back to go running in. Also we go out in the car most days instead of being left at home.

So I guess all that upset was worth it.

Now then, can anyone tell me - what's a SKUNK???

Fab holiday!

What great pawrents we have. They decided to give us a whole week's holiday without THEM! They went away so that our Auntie Heather could come and stay with us. We love her, she's just so much fun. She takes us fantastic walks, bakes biscuits for us, spends endless hours fussing over us. Bliss!

Hope they go away again soon .....

Hip hip hooray! It's our holiday!!

This is brill, we've found out that the pawrents are off on holiday on Saturday and are leaving us at home for a WHOLE WEEK!! Our Auntie Heather is coming to look after us while they're gone. How fab is that! She spoils us rotten and lets us do all sorts of stuff that THEY won't.

I guess I will miss my mummy, yes of course I will. But having Auntie Heather for a whole week ..... bliss!

They just DON'T understand!

Okay, so to you the dinner bowl may appear to be empty. You may be asking yourself why I spend so long cleaning up an empty bowl. It's because it isn't really empty at all.

There are many residual flavours clinging to its sides and I aim to remove every single dinner atom.

Now do you understand?

I'm a mere toast rack

After my little indisposition yesterday, the pawrents decided in their Infinite Wisdom that I wasn't to get any dinner! What a fuss about nothing, I was perfectly alright after an hour or so and pranced around doing my Dinner Dance to let them know so.

Not a chance. Not a crumb did I get. I starved all night long and woke up looking just like a toast rack with my ribses and bonses all sticking out.

I'm pleased to say that I got breakfast and you can be darned tootin' that I shall be dancing like Michael Jackson for my dinner tonight!
