Arrival Story:
I had just quit my fulltime job to return to college fulltime. There was an ad in the newspaper from a girl with 2 kids who was looking for a good home for Marshall, who was 9 months old at that time. She only wanted $50 for him (he had been "fixed" when I got him, but he doesn't really seem to mind) and that was a steal. Actually, there's no amount of money I could ever be offered to part with Marshall, so any amount she had asked would have been a steal! Anyway, I went to pick him up in a neighboring town on a Saturday afternoon. The weather was beautiful. I fell in instant love when I saw him! His eyes sparked, too, when he saw me! We bonded instantly! She said he had been abused a little. I think her kids (very young) had maybe picked him up by his front paws, because his little joints in his front legs have always been a little tender from what I can tell. So, I guess I did sort of rescue him. He loved the ride home in the truck and was immediately comfortable laying in the front seat of the truck. He was already Marshall Dillon because the girls mother loved the show

At first, he lived in the backyard with his step brother, Buster. Then, I finally eased him in the house as my husband became attached to Marshall. Buster didn't like it in the house, so he continued to stay in his little house outside. As Marshall lived in the house longer, I became aware he absolutely is devastated by thunderstorms. I still have a guilt trip over that everytime I think of how he was outside for a few weeks and it would rain and thunder and lightening. At least he and Buster would cuddle together in their little house. But still, I am trying to make it up to Marshall every day in any way I possibly can. That is probably why he weighs 30 pounds, and because I love him so much, I am trying to get him back down to the slim, trim puppy he was when I got him so he will be happier and his little legs won't hurt as bad. He and I are both fighting that battle of the bulge! We are very happy together and I feel like the luckiest human in the world. As my husband likes to point out, Marshall owns me and I obey every wish and command my owner wants or needs. That's the story for now!

I'm still trying to get my hind leg mended from when I fell off the bed (I know... how'd that happen?) I wasn't paying attention and got into a big hurry to jump up and didn't pay close enough attention to the line ahead of me. Things just went wrong and I fell backwards on a funny (not really funny) landing of my back leg!

I'm sooooooo tired of being cooped up in this kennel and being leash bound outside I could just bite the next biteable thing that gets within biting distance! Normally, I'm just a fun-loving guy who just wants to chase a few squirrels, birds, cats, etc.... not really catch them, just play a game of chase. Well, I haven't been able to do that for 3 months now. COUNT 'EM! THREE (3) MONTHS!!! I'm going stir crazy!

Well, that's all for now. Oh, my brother posted his webpage today. He gets to run free! Not fair!! I'm gonna give him what for when I get outta here and on all four healthy legs again!!!! Watch out Romeo!

Woof Woof Woof Woof!
