Keep your paws crossed!December 13th 2010 4:15 pm[ Leave A Comment ] So DOH#2 and I were playing around earlier, when she felt something on one of my legs. She got DOH#1 to feel it and see if he could actually feel it too...he did. So now they've got a call in with my vet to try and make an appointment asap. DOH#2 is trying her best not to freak out or anything and though we were scheduled to leave for our howliday vacation on Wednesday, she says we aren't leaving till I can be seen by the vet. So cross your paws everyone that we can get in soon and also that it's nothing major wrong with me. Bones and treats to you all!
My walkiesDecember 30th 2008 6:49 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Mom and dad have been very good about getting us out for regular walks now, but today...at my scheduled 11a.m. walk I didn't really seem to want to walk very much and mom was a bit worried that maybe I was in some pain. I wasn't limping, but was just being really slow and so she called the vet to ask her what to do. The vet said it sounded like I was having some muscle pain and that mom needed to cut back some on my walks(she was trying to do 3 20 to 30 minute walks a day) and gradually build up the times. Mom feels bad because she didn't mean to push me too hard too fast, she just thought that it would help more in my quest to lose weight and plus I always seem to enjoy getting to get out and explore. So mom and dad are going to decrease my walks for now and start working up to where mom really wants both my sister and I to be(5 30 minute walks a day or 1 hour off leash time and 2 30 minute walks). She is also going to get my sister and I on joint supplements(sister needs them because her back hips pop in and out of socket and I am starting to become more distinguished) to help some. The vet said it sounded like my diet is a good one and mom is eager to see if I've lost any ounces yet. She's really been working hard to try to find some kind of balance for both my sister and I. Mom and dad both think though that I've been displaying more energy lately than I have in a long time and that makes them both very happy. I've been wanting to play a lot more often and mom has so much fun tossing me one of my new favorite toys and having me bring it back to her(though sometimes I make her come after it! BOL). Anyways, I think it's time for bed for me so I'll close and wish everyone a Happy New Year! Bones and treats and cuddles to you all!
Fun today!December 26th 2008 12:11 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Today has been a very fun day! We woke up late(too much chicken last night...bol j/k), had our yummy egg for breakfast, then mom and dad took us out for what we thought would be our regular morning walk! Instead, we ended up going to this field that we've gone to before and mom and dad let us off leash to run and play around! Oh dog was that great!! I was more interested in making mud angels, but you should have seen my sister run! I chased her too some though and of course I couldn't let dad get away when he started to run! I overheard mom say to dad that she wants to start bringing us there as often as they can because she says we need to be able to run around and get great exercise. The only downside to having fun there was when we got home...we had to have a bath!! I was a good boy though and just stood there and let mom wash me off(and wouldn't you know it...I had just gotten all those smells on me that I wanted...sigh). I have to say that mom and dad are really starting to get better at making sure we get out of the house more and have fun! If this keeps up like it is...dog am I gonna be svelte in no time!!
Merry Christmas!!December 25th 2008 10:19 am[ Leave A Comment ] So today is Christmas and dog did I have a lot of fun this morning unwrapping presents! Mom got pictures of both my sister and myself trying to help dad open all our presents and even his too!! Then we had breakfast...took a nice nap and later on this evening...we'll have Christmas dinner with mom and dad. Mom's even going to let us have a bitof the chicken breast meat she's making! YUMMY!! I got lots of new toys, a new bowl, a new leash, some yummy sweet potato treats, and some Zuke's hip action treats too! My favorite toy so far though, is this one that looks like a huge piece of dubba bubba bubble gum! I carry that thing everywhere I go now! Well, I'll write more later...dad just mentioned a walk...so I'm off to find that new leash! Hope everyone has had as great a Christmas as me!!
Merry Christmas!!December 24th 2008 12:13 pm[ Leave A Comment ] I just wanted to wish all my pup pals and their families a very Merry Christmas and an even happier New Year! May all your dreams and hopes come true! Here is wishing too that all those in need of good homes find them! Happy Howlidays everyone!
December 20th 2008 3:37 pm[ Leave A Comment ] So Mom has started playing a new game with me, that I seem to really enjoy. It's another spin on the whole hide-and-go seek game that we play with dad, but mom can do it by herself. What she does is take my toy and hide it throughout the house and then I have to go and find it. I've really been having a lot of fun doing this! Next though, mom is thinking about taking my treats(baby carrots) and hiding them and see how well I can find them. My baby sister doesn't seem to get it as much, but that could just be because it isn't her favorite toy. Anyways, mom has been starting to research changing my sister and I over to a raw diet. She's been reading the forums here a lot and trying to find other links on the web both for and against it. She isn't going to make this decision over night and wants to make sure that she has as much information about it as possible. She has given us raw egg and we've loved it and haven't really displayed having any problems with it(and believe you me...we LOVE getting our egg). She does have some concerns, but hopefully through more research, they are issues that can be resolved. Well, I do believe it's almost time for dinner so I think I better go! Mom's had to cut us back on our food and I try to pretend with her that I'm starving all the time! But on that note...I definitely don't want to miss a meal!!
My vet appointmentDecember 17th 2008 4:36 am[ Leave A Comment ] As you may know, yesterday I went to the vet(ugh!!), but thankfully, other than being overweight(which mom knew and is working on) I was given a pretty clean bill of health! They didn't do the thyroid testing yet though, as they said they would wait till next month and do it when I get my teeth-cleaned. The vet said that my food is pretty good, but I've got to cut back(sigh...less food??? why me???) and I'm not allowed to have rawhides for now. I was told that for treats I'm allowed to have baby carrots and green beans since they are full of fiber and low in calories. Mom is really trying to dedicate herself to making sure that I am able to lose the weight because being overweight herself she knows how hard it can be on the body. She says that she really wants me to be healthier and lighter so that I can live longer and more fully enjoy life. She's even talked about getting me into agility, just for fun, but says I need to be in a bit better shape so it's easier for me. She's really glad that she's found dogster because it has given her a lot of ideas that she'd never thought of and its a great reference point for learning new things! So everyone...keep your fingers and paws crossed that mom can help me and I can become the svelte pup I once was, again!
Woot!December 16th 2008 12:24 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well, I just got back from the vet and other than being overweight(which mom obviously already knew), she said I am a pretty healthy pup! That's a big relief to mom and she actually did a little happy dance! Made her feel like maybe she isn't such a horrible mom after all. Anyways, the vet also has helped us come up with an exercise plan for my sister and I and mom feels good about that. I didn't get tested for a thyroid problem yet...they plan to do that when I go to get my teeth cleaned next month. I do have to end up getting some of my food cut back and no more rawhides for me:(. However, I am still allowed to have my carrots and green beans(which I love both)! Well, I'm off to go play with my sister...bones and treats to everyone!
Poor MomDecember 14th 2008 7:28 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Tonight, Mom is feeling really kinda down. My baby sister gave her a bit of a run around with her eating today(she finally ate her breakfast and her dinner too) and now when she was brushing my teeth, she noticed that I might be getting an abcess on one tooth. She feels a lot like she has been a horrible pawrent to us...my teeth aren't the best...I'm overweight...don't get enough exercise...the list(at least she thinks) goes on and on. She does so want us to have long, healthy, fulfilling lives...and she is trying to make some major changes for us, but I guess she's just feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment. I know she loves us so very much( thinks of us as her children with fur)and I dunno...guess she just feels like she's wasted all this time not really taking as good of care of us as she should have. Add to this that she is really stressed about a major move we have coming up...the holiday season...not working...having had surgery recently...not to mention a bit of a shortage on funds...and well I guess I would be a bit overwhelmed too. She just wishes that things seemed a bit easier right now. Anyways, I'm trying to do my best to cheer up her and so I guess I should go and do that...Happy Howlidays everyone!
December 13th 2008 7:57 am[ Leave A Comment ] Oh dog...let me tell you...my mom and dad have been a lot of fun lately! They've taken to hiding in the house in different places and letting my sister and I sniff them out! Dog, do I have a lot of fun doing that! Mom says its good for me too because it gets me some exercise even if it's raining out. And let me tell you...they are pretty good hiders! They hide upstairs...they hide downstairs...they hide in the garage! As good as they are at hiding though...we are even better at finding them! Mom has decided to go on a campaign to do her best to help my sister and I lose weight...so she is trying to think of new and creative ways of sneaking in exercise. She says she feels bad that we've gained and will do everything in her power to help us lose. She says it's important to her because she wants us to be healthy and stay around longer....which personally, I am not at all adverse to! Part of my weight issue though is most likely stemming from a thyroid problem and mom says when I go to the vet(ugh!!!) she is going to ask that I be tested finally. Anyways, I think my sister is trying to steal my toy...so off to get it back!!
