Arrival Story:
Sadly, I have to inform all of you that Abby has passed away. She died very sudennly of Congestive Heart Failure. Abby was rescued in the dead of winter. Her family left her in a pen outside without food, water or a shelter when they moved. Thank goodness for the Realtor, if it wasn't for her who knows what would've happened to Abby.
Bio:
Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary is a no-kill facility that prides itself with giving the best care possible to each and every dog that comes to stay with us. We work with local Animal Controls and Humane Societies, and when they are full they call on us. We go in and take as many dogs as we can so that other dogs will have more time and not be euthanized.
We are very thorough in our adoption process, and are careful about which homes our dogs are placed in. We first make sure the dog establishes a bond with the human family before anything is decided, which takes up to two visits at Mackenzie’s. We then do a home visit with the dog to make sure the home is suitable and completely safe.
