Five Years?

A month short of five years little girl. And I still miss petting you on your curly head. And smelling your powder smell when you had a grooming.

I can't believe it has been so long.

We have your picture near the side door, where you liked to run out and play in the yard. It is the one where you are wearing that little red sweater and you look ready to run and have fun.

Tomorrow I am going to bring a puppy back in that door...a buff cocker like you. She won't be like you, and I know that...but I know I will think of you whenever I see her.

Her name is Cookie. I am rescuing her. By giving her all the best treatment she can have I guess I think it can be like having you back in a way and spoiling you again.

Run free little girl. There will come a day...

Another year without you running here with us. We miss you so.

Can you look down and see us? We are in the backyard everynight, running and playing. We would love to have you here to play with us.

Someday, sweet girl - we will all run through the wide fields together.

3 years yesterday.

And I am not so sad as I was for a long time after. Even losing my sweet baby has healed, and I have moved ahead. But every day that passes, sweetheart - brings us closer to the day we are all together again.

Run like the wind, little angel. We will have a grand company at the Bridge someday when all of us are together!

Love you always.

Mama and Grandma, Savvy and Samoa and Dubs.

I been thinking about you lately little girl. Since you were gone we have gotten a whole pack of dogs - now there are three. I love them all, but I think I was trying to forget you/replace you.

First was Savvy and she is so different from you. She is huge and strong and wild to have fun. She is soft and sweet and has a big heart. She hasn't got a bad thought in her big head!

Then we got Samoa - and he is unique. He is the most serious dog I have ever known. A total sobersides. But he loves love and he loves every dog and every person he meets. He would have loved you too.

Finally we got Little Dubs. She is the most like you. She is small and adorable like you and she has a pranksters soul - like you. Nothing is as much fun as teasing and playing and everyone and everything are her targets. She runs like the wind on her short little legs - like you did. And when she needs cuddling she rests her little head in my hand and looks at me with her big brown soulful eyes. Like you.

Miss you baby. Someday we will all come up over that bridge and play. Say hi to Big Dixie and to Mattie and the Hot Dog Twins. See you, baby.

I know you saw me down at your garden. I had to weed out the summer flowers that had finished blooming. It looks so bare when they are gone and I can see the stone I put there for you. Your name on it has faded, I will paint it on again.

Grandma and I bought a little wishing well to decorate your garden so it doesn't look so bare. I will get some pretty flowers for it, and it will shade your spot until your tree gets bigger.

Did you feel me petting your head? I was pretending to pet your little peanut head and trying to remember what it felt like. Your curls and floppy ears and soft fur.

Miss you baby. Run like the wind.

Mama.

Almost 2 years now little girl. It seems like a long time and like no time at all. We miss you always. I think of your cuddly little body and how full of energy and life you were. When you got sick, all that faded so fast. The last week you spent in the vets kept us from having that time with you. But when you came home that weekend before you went to the bridge we had a chance to show you how much we loved you before you left us.

I remember that last Saturday when you were feeling a little better and started playing "catch me" on the back deck. It was plain you were not strong, but your spirit was and you were ready for some fun. After you went, we know you are someplace with no more pain, and lots of running and fun. I can see you running on the green spring grass, just like you did when you were here with us.

Go ahead and run, little girl. We will catch up with you some day.

Love, Mama and Nana and the new kids, Savannah and Samoa!

Thinking about our Princess!

Hey, Little Girl - we have been thinking about you a lot lately. Savannah got ahold of your happy face night light and chewed it up. I was sorry that happened - all the time we had you that night light never went out. I meant to send it with you when you left us, but I know the sun is always shining for you and the stars at night!

We put the Christmas tree up the other day, and I remember how you used to love to sleep under it. You were always my best Christmas present! Be happy up there by the bridge. Have fun and know that we love you and will come along some day.

Mama, Nana and Savvy.

Well, baby it has been one year now. Of course we miss you all the time, but I have been thinking a lot about you lately and miss you all over again.

I was looking at your pictures this morning - the one that is on your page here where you have your little red sweater on and are all ready for a run. And the one with you sitting on the sofa rolling your eyes at me. You were a handful. Sweet faced, cuddly and a princess all the way. I know you have a special place over the bridge and I know I will meet you there someday.

Savannah says hi, she never knew you, but she loves you too. And of course Nanny does.

See you in our dreams, Baby.

Love, Mama and Nanny and Savannah!

It has been almost a year now since you left us. The grass is getting green and the trees are blooming just like then when you went over the bridge to the place where grass is always green.

I know it is great for you to be there and you must love that you can run again like you could when you were a young dog. The fastest Cocker in the World.

It wasn't always easy for you here and I am glad that you are now in a place with no sickness or pain.

In time we will be there with you. Until then, have a great time. Tell Old Dixie hi, because I know she found you there.

Love, Mama.
