Arrival Story:
I was listed as Scamp on petfinder.com. My picture was so adorable, I had like 20,000 hits because I was SO cute. My mommy saw me and checked my profile that said my personality sounded very much like Daisy. I was purchased from a pet store by a family. My first owners sucked! They didn't know how to handle me and turned into a "bad" shelter in NJ. The manager of this shelter said the shelter was full and that I had to go somewhere else or something bad would happen to adorable me. So she called Stephanie, a wonderful woman, from APAW, a wonderful place and Stephanie came and picked me up and took me for a ride in her silver truck to APAW. APAW was fun most of the time- Stephanie was great, she took my pictures and put me up on petfinder and I played with the other pups there inside and out, but I didn't like sharing my toys or food with so many other dogs and I hated being alone all night long with no one to cuddle with. One Sunday afternoon in October, Carolyn & Billy drove up in Carolyn's little VW, they were a cute newlywed couple. When I lifted my leg to pee on the tree, Billy got very excited and started talking about taking me home. Then they left and I was very sad. The next day Carolyn drove back and picked me up. I rode for an hour in her little car to New York City- it was loud and there were SO many smells! I had a tough time walking because I was so distracted. I went up the steps w/ Carolyn and met Daisy. She didn't like me at first, but now we get along well. For a while we all lived in a tiny apartment in New York, we went on walks to the Park every morning.
Now we live in a small house in Annapolis and we have a yard! It's great! Also mommy and daddy now have a bigger bed with room for all of us in it!
Bio:
I am named after Juan Dixon, the best player in the history of NCAA basketball. He attended and played basketball at the University of Maryland- College Park (my owners' alma mater) from 1998-2002 and is the only player in NCAA history to accumulate 2,000 points, 300 steals and 200 three-point field goals. He led the Terrapins to their first NCAA Men's Basketball Championship in his senior year and was named NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player of 2002.
I identify with my namesake as I had a very difficult early puppyhood. I am honored to be named after such a fantastic Terp and great man.
Also I hate Duke and enjoy nothing more than seeing them fail. Duke is evil and must be destroyed. I would like to pee in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

I like summer. I like when it is warm out. Sitting in the sunshine is nice. I lay on our back deck in the sun. I chase bugs. I carry sticks. Sometimes I dig holes or tear out ivy.
We go on long walks around Eastport. Sometimes to the little beach. I run in the sand like a crazy man.
I see big brown dogs swimming in the water.
My daddy throws a stick and first I am scared. I bark at the water. It used to be cold but now it's warmer. I swim through the waves to fetch the stick. I ride the waves back in to the sand.
All of the swimming and sun makes me sleepy.
We all walk home. Daddy washes me off with cold water from the hose.
Mommy dries me off with a towel. I run around the house. Nap time.
