A little ARPH goes an even longer way!

I was beggining to think I would never get to write this brag! At 10 years very young Oreo finally found the last major he needed to finish his ASCA altered Championship!!! THis also fullfilled his requirements to become a Versatility Champion as well!!!!! He was a rescue dog that we got through the Aussie Rescue and Placement Helplin Inc., so this is even more special. We think he is the ONLY rescue dog to ever become a Versatility Champion and at only 18 I am the youngest handler to ever accomplish this goal. I am only 24 days past aging out of Juniors! We are an unlikely pair but we overcame the odds and succeeded:-)

Another show!

I had a great show this weekend! I went Altered Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best of Breed the first show over three specials including one that was #2 in the nation last year and won the Invitational at Nationals. It was SO cool to beat her and very unexpected because she is such a nice girly. THen the second show I did it AGAIN!!!!!

The next day I took Best opposite sex to her but still beat 2 specials!

Smoke and Ty had a good weekend too but Ill let them tell you all about that!

Oreo

Yes, yes I know-I'm famous!!!

Well, we traveled to Missouri for an ASCA show this weekend and WOW did we do well!!

Oreo took 2 altered Best of Breeds and then 2 altered RWD's. He also greatly increased his fan base

Ty took WD for a four pt major to finish his Championship!!! and then we couldnt move him up so he stayed in the classes and took RWD to a 5 pt major. He specialed in one show the next day but they were AKC judges so he did nothing

Ty and I took two Best Junior Hanlders and 2 Reserve Junior handlers. We are now only one BJH away from 500 club-and we have till May 31 to do it so we will hopefully be ok

I also showed a cute little bitch for someone the show Ty took RWD and she went WB, BOW, BOB for her first 5 pts

New kennels

I really like the new kennels (we moved in on Sunday)!! Cruz gives the details but I like um! I get a nice fluffy bed (I share a kennel with Rainie) and we can run in and out whenever we want. I like to sit and stare at Cruz's food and whine though. Why does he get to have food all the time??

Joy Mason DVM (My communication experience)

At the 2005 ASCA Nationals in Georgia Joy Mason, DVM had an animal communicator booth set up. My humans are EXTREAMLY sceptical about this stuff but thought it would be fun even if it wasnt real. Wow were they in for it... (this is what mom wrote down from the experience)

...Joy began by saying Oreo is a very happy dog with a good sense of humor. She said throughout the entire thing that she just LOVED this dogs attitude. She continued with the following:

~ Oreo believes his name is Oooeeoo. {We often chant this (similar to the chant the monkeys from wizard of Oz say-Oeeo, wee-O!)} As she said this Oreo began squiggling on his back and grabbing his whole stiffle in his mouth. He squiggles but the way he did it with the grabbing his leg thing was new and he has never repeated the behavior since. Joy said many animals are so happy to be listened to, they become extreamly silly.

~ Joy asked if he was an inside dog and we told her he was not. She replied that that was odd because Oreo was telling her about liking a bedroom with blue walls and that he felt very special when he got to sleep in it and none of the other dogs did. Well my face turned beat red because I had snuck him in my bedroom a few times (after he got a bath for a show) and it currently is not plastered and has blue-grey drywall. He told on me!!

~ Oreo said there was a young red dog that he got to play with every once in a while that he really liked. A friend has a red-bi girl that he plays with and we call them the bi guys.

~ Joy said there was a younger dog in the house that was annoying and very cocky, but that he liked him.(this is refering to Ty who is VERY cocky and she did not know we had any other dogs than Oreo and Rainie) Oreo said he is not jelouse of him and thinks that we looked good in the ring together. (Joy had no idea if mom or I showed Ty) Oreo also said he likes the outfit with the blue and the one with the red. I had just worn the one with the blue earlier that day and oreo was ringside. Joy was in the opposite end of the grounds and had no way of knowing that.

~ When asked about dad Joy said he had a short name (Jon) and that he acted gruff but he had a soft inside that Oreo was trying to get to and that the other dogs didnt see it. (I did not know this until later but Dad used to let Oreo out while he was outside when we went to shows). He also said he still thought of me as a little girl and that he would always protect me and no one could tell him otherwise. He also said I should listen to him when he doesnt like someone because as he put it "Im not stupid" Mom then informed Joy that Oreo had nipped my cousin (hes in his 30's) when he came over and it was dark and he just went around and nipped his ankle like saying "Im here and watching you" Joy began giggling and said that Oreo said that was NOT why. He said he was telling him to go home because it was time for my sister and I to go to bed.

~Now this is where it gets really good...Mom asked about Oreo's connection with a previous dog. Joy said the dogs name was short (Leo). She then said matter of factly "you mean is he Leo?" and we shrugged. She then went on to say that she was 100% sure Oreo was Leo. Oreo said it was hard getting back to us and that he knew he was close but not close enough (we rescued Oreo at 11months old and he was being fostered 4 hours away). He then said "I did good didn't I?!" This was only the third time Joy had seen an actually reincarnation. Most of the time the old pet stays behind and tells the new one what to do to make the people happy. We had always suspected because Leo was put down almost exactly a month before Oreo was born and when Oreo came home he knew the ruetine immediately and bonded instantly to me. This would also be why he will always think of me as a little girl (I was in 1st grade when Leo died at 13years old of hemangio sarcoma) This also may be why Oreo thinks his name is Oweeoo. Leo was short for Julio as in Julio Eglasias and when you say the two together they are errily similar. We had a friend who was practicing communicating right when we got Oreo and when we first suspected (this person did not know about our suspicions) she asked him who he was and he responded with "Who do you think I am?"

~ Mom asked about his past and Oreo said he would rather not go there because he was just trying to get back to us so it didnt matter, but he said it was not good and he would rather forget it.

~ Joy said Oreo took great pride in not looking or acting his age and he would not go the same way as he had before. (People are always commenting on how good he looks.) Leo died within 24 hours of even hinting he was sick so we did not get much of a good bye.

~ When asked about stock (Joy knew NOTHING about herding) he said he liked cattle, sheep are stupid, and ducks just dont get it. He also thinks obedience is redundent (I trialed him for years-he just retired from it in Sept-in open for Jr points). She had no way of knowing we worked all three types of stock either. That ended our session but Rainie went next and as soon as Joy turned her attention Oreo fell sound asleep with a big moan, after being goofy the whole 30minutes he was talked to.....

Well as you can see Im a cool guy. Rainie also talked to her but Ill let her tell you about that:-)

Pet Detective

Well I sure had an interesting night!!!. We went for a walk and its getting dark really early lately so it was kind of dusky out. We always walk down in the field below our house. Anyway, my cocky brother Ty decided he was fast enough to bring one of those freaky looking sheep back to mom. Anyway mom didnt see him take off (she tripped over Cruz who stopped to pee right in front of her). After calling for a few minutes mom took all of us back to the house and put us away. All except for me that is. She put a leash on me and told me "Find Ty, Where is he" I of course knew exactly where he was and took off as fast as I could (I really wish mom would have put a harness on instead of a collar cuz I was pulling so hard) I took off with her running really fast behind me and followed Ty's scent. Mom forgot a flashlight so she couldnt see if I was actually following him or not but we went about a 1/4 mile down a trail before we turned around. We then went back to the field and called and squeeked toys. I was mad cuz I knew where he was but mom turned around. Anyway Ty came back about 5 minutes after we got back to the field. And guess where he came from-thats right-exactly where I was leading mom in the first place! Humans, when will they ever learn to listen to us and trust us??? I know mine will next time. Im not even the one she does tracking training with-she does that with Rainie:-)

FYI: Ty said the funny sheep was too fast for him to fetch back to mom-hes glad we don't have to herd those kind of sheep all the time!!(Mom is too!)

ASCA show in Ixonia

Well we went to a show this weekend so I could hopefully finish my Altered Championship and in doing so my Versatility Championship. They had 2pts in dogs and 3pts in bitches so to get the last major (in ASCA you have to have 3 majors not just 2 like AKC) I needed to take best of Winners. Well in the Saturday PM show I took WD but not BOW so I didn't finish. Mom was sad but said I showed REALLY well. In June there is a judge that absolutely loves me so we are trying to get a major going for that show.
