Arrival Story: 2000 was a really sad year for us, our cross labrador Sparky went to sleep on Feb 11 then Raymies dad passed away on Aug 2nd. Raymie had always wanted a Pyr having watched Belle & Sebastian as a child and fallen in love with the breed, he had researched them thoroughly years before but had decided that at the time it wasn't right. So at the start of September 2000 we looked into it seriously and contacted the Kennel Club of Great Britain for breeders. There were 3 litters in the UK at that time and the first breeder we phoned had 1 male pup left, available at the end of September we immediately took him and travelled down to get him at the end of September. It was uncanny how it all happened we didn't know if he was all white or had any markings, about a week before we got him I had been looking through the Pyr books and came across a picture of a beautiful pup with badger markings and it totally captivated me and I really hoped he would look like that while Raymie hoped he would be all white, although we knew we would love him whatever he looked like. The day arrived when we went to collect him and we travelled 250 miles on the train as I can't go long distances in cars due to trauma caused by a car accident. When we arrived at the breeders farmhouse we were taken to meet the pups and there he was a small white furry bundle with badger markings, totally adorable. We found out he was born the day Raymie's dad died and the day we collected him would have been Raymie's dads birthday so we think he was definitely meant for us. He came home on the train with us in an extra large cat carrier and he had a ball, loads of new smells and interesting people to meet, not traumatised at all at leaving his parents and siblings. The first thing he did when he got home home was chew his Daddys feet, this should have been a sign of things to come as he spent the next few months chewing everything in sight!
He is nearly 6 now and a total joy, he is both playful and placid, affectionate and mischevious, an all round happy dog. He gets stopped everywhere we go and stands there leaning against the new people getting his ears scratched and basically revelling in the attention. Everyone in our area knows him and when he is out in the garden it is always full of the local kids petting him and playing with him, he is a total 'sook'.

Bio: His badger markings have faded a bit as he has got older, but as a pup he had Alice Cooper eyes!
Sadly Yogi went to the Rainbow Bridge on 19th April 2010. He never had a days illness until February 2010 when he was diagnosed with benign lymphoma and arthritis, the lymphoma was under control but the arthritis was too painful and caused his legs to give out. RIP Yogi 2nd August 2000 to 19th April 2010 See you on the other side darling.
