Birthday: March 10th 2000 Likes: People Pet-Peeves: She doesn't like us to pet the other animals in the house. She barks at us when we do. Favorite Toy: Stuffed squeaky goose Favorite Food: Great Life Favorite Walk: around the condo complex Best Tricks: chasing her tail and her goose, she can sit, and if you ask her to tell she wants to go outside she will look at you and go "aroo roo" Arrival Story: In February 2006 my son had collected money to donate to a charity and decided to take food and supplies to the Agoura Hills animal shelter. While there we looked at the dogs, not intending to take one. We already had a dog and a cat. We saw an overweight beagle named Trixie. She had kennel cough so we couldn't touch her. Over the months I wondered about her so I checked the shelter website and saw she was still there. It was Mother's Day weekend and I half jokingly told my husband that if Copper got along with Trixie I would like her for my Mother's Day gift. The Monday following Mother's Day my husband took Copper to the shelter to see how the two interacted along with my son. The two got along and we ended up with another beagle. Trixie's previous owner, like Copper's, was an elderly woman who had to give her up. We have spoken with her previous owner. Trixie had been adopted twice before we took her and returned, but now she has found a forever home with us. We love her and she is extremely affectionate. Bio: Trixie has a mom, dad, human brother and sister. She also has a beagle sister named Copper who was adopted from a humane Society herself. We also have a cat named Maddy in the family and Trixie and Maddy enjoy playing together. Trixie loves to set next to mom with her head in mom's lap. Trixie also likes car rides and the dog park. She is more excited to go to the dog park then to actually be at the dog park, but she does enjoy being able to sniff around off leash. Forums Motto: I am NOT a goofy goober! I LOVE turkey day. Yesterday was turkey day and I got some. Oh, that sweet white meat was so tasty. I loved every tiny morsel. After we ate we took a nap. Mama laid on the couch with us and I slept with my head on her shoulder. I like to curl up on the top of her head and then lay my head on her shoulder. It is comfortable. It was a nice lazy day. The girl came over but she was not feeling well. I am just so thankful that mom came into the shelter a little over a year ago and kept looking to see if I had found a home yet. I was adopted and returned twice before mama got me. I am glad that mama understands that I am a little goofy, but she loves me anyway. She says that I am her baby girl and that she loves me so much. I am so glad that she lets me sleep on the couch and that she gives me good food to eat and takes really good care of me. I miss my previous owner and she is not feeling well so please pray for her that she feels better. I am thankful because I know I did not come from an abusive place but from a home that loved me and had to let me go. Mama says that I am a sweet girl and deserve the best. I also played with the pups. I seem to be a little unsure of them but I do get them to chase me and I seem to like that. I am very interested in what they are up to. My pack is growing and I am happy to be part of it.
I was in a parade today. Me and Copper walked with the shelter that mom volunteers for and that mom adopted me from. We had to park far away and walk to the staging area. I saw some of the people who were at the shelter when I was an inmate. ;) They told me I had lost a lot of weight. I saw Bo, Tex, and Brutus from the shelter. We were behind the horses and a chi rolled in horse poop as big as he was. (gasp) There were people all around and they would point and say, "Look at the beagles." We wore our "I did time" t shirts. At the park lots of people asked about our shirts so mom go the chance to tell them about the great dogs at the shelter. Someone asked if I was available and mom said NO. :) I got to eat a hotdog. It was so good. Lots of people wanted to pet me. Copper had to go home early with dad cause she wouldn't walk anymore. After she left, I walked around with mom and saw the petting zoo and I saw other dogs. We had to walk a long way back to the car so I was very tired when I got home. I don't think I have ever walked so much in my life. I came home, got on the couch and slept, slept, slept. All in all it was a great day.
I had to go to the vet today. I just went for my shots and my annual exam. I made a pee pee on the floor when they came at me with the thermometer. I do not like that part. My Dr laughed because I was wagging my tail the whole time he was checking me. He said that I was a happy girl. After I was finished mama took me to McDonald's and I got a piece of sausage. All for me. I didn't have to share with anyone. :) Next week me and Copper and Maddy have to go spend the weekend at the vet and we will get baths. Mom says they have to take a trip and they are flying so we don't get to go this time. I also got my nails trimmed so I don't sound like I am tap dancing when I walk now. I am so glad that I don't have to go again for another year. :)
