Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

Birthday:
April 9th 2005

Likes:
Running and playing frisbee and catch - nonstop!

Pet-Peeves:
People who rush at her. She needs to take her time getting to know new people. She's just learning how to trust again.

Favorite Toy:
Her frisbee or anything that Georgia is playing with.

Favorite Food:
Eukanuba Performance. We can't keep the weight on her! No more picky eater for this girl!

Favorite Walk:
Everywhere - especially if her Dad is taking her.

Best Tricks:
Kisses, Spinners (chasing her tail in circles), shake, pretending she's a cat rubbing up against your legs (her favorite way to get attention)!

Arrival Story:
We were asked to foster Roxy and assess whether her agression (at 10 months) could be modified. It turned out that she had spent the first 10 months of her life in a cage and when she was out, she was abused physically. The rest of the time she was neglected. She was so untrusting of people that the only time you could touch her without being bitten was if you had a leash in your hand to hook it to her collar. She made so much progress in 2 months, that we decided to keep her. We knew that if she went back to the original owner or ended up in a shelter she would most likely be euthanized. We've had Roxy since February of 2006. She's already transformed into a very loving dog. She's full of kisses and energy. She's learning how to play and interact with new people. She's gets along great with the neighborhood dogs. Just knowing that we've earned her trust is the most wonderful feeling in the world. She still has a ways to go, but her potential is virtually unlimited. She's really smart and learns very quickly. Since coming to live with us, she's been trained strictly with positive reinforcement.

Bio:
Roxy is now a permanent part of our family. 2 weeks of fostering turned into 2 months. We couldn't give up on her. She had so much potential. Slowly but surely, the loving, trusting, puppy is re-emerging. We know that we have made the right decision. Her potential is unlimited. Our job is to make sure that her life is filled with all of the love that she has always deserved!

Forums Motto:
Play frisbee from morning till night!

A happy ending for Roxy:
September 2007: Roxy has come such a long way during this past 16+ months. She has learned to trust, love, and enjoy hands on contact. Unfortunately, much to our dismay, Dale and I have come to realize that Roxy really needs to be an "only dog" in order fully realize her potential. While she enjoyed meeting and playing with other dogs, we have begun to notice some jealousy directed toward her "sisters" at home. After exhausting every trick in the book, we knew we had to do what was best for Roxy -- find a forever family in which she would be the "only dog" that she longed to be. With the help, dedication, and hardwork of Linda and everyone with Magnificent Mutts (Hillside, IL), Roxy found the perfect family on October 6, 2007. We've be told by Linda that Roxy is doing wonderfully and that everyone she has met loves her. All of the love, tears, and hard work we put into Roxy's training and rehabilitation was worth every second -- even though the ending of this story was different than we had originally hoped. We will always love her and despite the fact that she has a new family, she will always be our girl! We shed many tears during our good-bye, but Linda reminded us that we hadn't failed Roxy at all. We saved her from certain euthanasia, and never gave up on her. We put her best interests ahead of what we wanted and in doing so, Roxy found the family and live she deserverd and that she needed to thrive. We'll always love you Roxy!!!
