Arrival Story:
Tricky came from a breeder on the peninsula of Washington that took me about 4 hours to get to. It was a long, horrible drive that brought me to one of the most backwards places I've ever seen in my life. They were trying to pawn off a little Boston that weighed 2lbs (at 4 months) with a cleft palate and eyes that pointed at 10 and 2 o'clock. The poor thing snorted in order to breathe. They were willing to be generous and reduce the amount to $200 for the "challenged" pup. Tricky was being a good sister and walking by the little one giving it a little rub once in awhile. I was thinking how nice she was and asked if I could buy her instead. Of course the price shot up to $600 because Boston females are rare (what!?). Strange demented children came out of the woodwork, telling us that they called the female pup Beanhead "cuz she gots a noggin' shaped like a bean." I looked at Tricky, said "howbout we give these people $600, and you and I get the hell out of here" We stopped at the ferry to get back to the mainland and I bought Tricky a small cup of clam chowder. She lapped it up with this mesmerized look on her face and I could have sworn I heard her say "right family, I got the right family...bye mama" Within one week Tricky ate everything in site including a hairbrush. She had to have $900 in exploratory surgery to remove the shards from her belly bringing the one week tally for her costs to $1700. You know what? That dog is worth every cent.
