We Poos get a bad rap, but I showed them!!!

In reading some other doggies diary entries, Mom was reminded of my experience in Obedience training. As a youngster, I had completed Puppy Pre-school, of course, and Mom and I had so much fun, we decided to take the next class. I think it was intermediate obedience. The teacher was a rather gruff woman who had dedicated her life to rescuing Hounds of all types. I think she had 35 or so that she cared for at the time. Great work! Needless to say, I am quite a bit different than the short haired, VERY low maintenance Hounds. Though I consider myself low maintenance, Mom likes for me to express my Poodleness and keep a pretty hairdo and occasionally sport a hot pink pedicure! (Mommy works for a cosmetics line so she can carry out a fancy look or two herself!) I think this may have "turned off" my dedicated trainer as she often glanced our way as if to pass judgment that a "foo-foo" dog couldn't possibly be a brilliant dog. Little did she know! Mommy sensed the "judgement" of the teacher, (I was oblivious and just excited about my new friends!), so we held our heads high every week as we walked into class. I will have you know, I could sense the the teacher "softening" to my adorable self as I was the first to learn everything we were taught and by the end of the eight week course, I WON the VALEDICTORIAN title for my entire class! Yea, ME! I was consistently the first to grasp new commands and even from the teacher and not just Mommy! So, yeah, we "fancy girls" can be prejudged by the unsuspecting, and unknowing, but in the end, WE'LL SHOW THEM WHO'S SMART!!!

Plus, people always think we're "prissy" just cause we're pretty. I get dirty with the rest of 'em and I know how to have fun! You should see me at the dogpark! I'm a goofball at heart!
