Arrival Story:
I was looking for a dog that needed a home, one that might not find one otherwise. I thought I might enjoy training a deaf dog and then I found Lily. She is awesome!

Bio:
I adopted Lily from a reputable breeder, her parents were champion show dogs. Deafness occurs in ACD's, even if both parents have full hearing. There is no predictor for how it gets passed along. Lily is proof that deaf dogs are just as loving and trainable as a hearing dog. She is constantly amazing at what she understands. She is smart and determined. I knew I was in trouble at her breeder's house, when she managed to get past a set of puppy gates, not once but 3 times to go follow a cat! She was just 9 weeks old and all of 4 1/2 lbs! She has been in Puppy K, Obedience, passed her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) at 11 months and has been in Agility since she was about 18 months old. She is doing great in Agility, she was born for it. I wish I was a better Handler. We have been in one NADAC Trial and look forward to doing more! Lily unexpectedly became ill in June. She was ill off an on and tests were inconclusive until we did endoscopy of her stomach & small intesting at the beginning of August. She was diagnosed with intestinal (alimentary) lymphoma. She only lived 2 weeks past diagnosis. She was only 7. I am utterly heartbroken over losing her! Lily - April 6, 2001 - August 29, 2008
