Arrival Story:
She and her sister & 2 brothers were "dropped off" in our barn around the end of August last year! When I went to feed the horses and barn cat, I noticed something moving in the stall nearby. I looked and there were 4 puppies looking at me! I spoke and they all got up & started wagging their tails! They had already emptied the trash can looking for food. They all had mange, worms, fleas...they were a mess! We found them on Friday & took them to the vet on Monday. He bathed them, treated them for worms & mange, and gave them their first shots. He estimated they were about 8 weeks old. The vet was surprised at how "socialized" they somebody had them long enough to socialize them...and then dumped them. We guessed it was because they either didn't want to fool with, or couldn't afford to treat all their problems.

Guess what!! I worked my magic charm, and now Mom & Dad can't bear the thought of giving me up! The other dogs still try to intimidate me, but truth be told....I'm the instigator of it a lot of the time! Mom caught me trying to get them to chase me one day! Now she doesn't feel nearly as sorry for me any more! She realizes it's just my way of having fun! My brother, Woof-er, and I are really great pals, and he gets his ball and I try to take it away from him! Sometimes Big Boy and Tippi come and try to get in on the game, but it's usually just me and Woof-er! Anyway...I have a great home with a really big fenced very own dog house which my dad built (one for each of us)...and they all survived Hurricane Ike! We have trees all over the yard, so there's plenty of shade, but still nice sunny spots for our sunbathing! I'm a happy little dog, and just wanted everybody to know!!!!

Little Mini Needs a Home

Mini is the sweetest puppy! We would love to keep her, but we live out in the country where there are too many wild “critters” that would endanger her life. Right now she is in the big fenced back yard with her 3 siblings…two big brothers and a larger-than-Mini sister. The other 3 dogs intimidate her terribly! She has even gotten so she is afraid to come to the fence for her treat when I give them their treats. Unless I go in the yard with them and try to keep the others interested in something else and sneak her treat in her mouth, they will roll her on the ground and take it right out of her mouth! So far, they haven’t really hurt her (no bite wounds or anything like that)…but they are hurting her pride! She’s a good little watch dog. She’s the first one to the fence when they hear anything…running and bouncing along like she’s on a spring, barking with each bounce!

The ideal home for her would be one with a good fenced yard and people to love her and interact with her and let her know she’s really special! She’s never been around children, and has a tendency to jump up on you and might scratch or nip a child. The vet thinks she is about 5 months old, and we will pay for her spaying, if we don’t have her spayed before someone wants her. But having her spayed is a condition of adoption. My only other request is that she’s never carried in the open bed of a pickup truck (especially as “bouncy” as she is!)! That scares me to death when I see it!

When we found her and her siblings in our barn where somebody dumped them around August 1st, they all had worms, mange, fleas…and were starving! We got them all cured of their problems, and they’ve had their first two rounds of shots. And they’re all on Revolution treatment for fleas, ticks, heartworm prevention, and other possibilities. They are all fat and healthy now, and all Mini needs is a loving home and someone to teach her puppy manners! Teaching manners is almost impossible with 4 puppies at once!

We are asking $25 for her…we’ve spent considerably more than that! And would like to have vet references from her prospective new owners. That’s not too much to ask for such a sweet, loving little puppy!

My first "snake encounter"!

We had enough excitement this morning to last awhile! We were running with our dad on his daily run, around the house down here, and when we got to my mom's bird feeding station, there was a cottonmouth moccasin coiled up with his mouth wide open, right under the feeders! (Probably why all the dove feathers were there yesterday!) Anyway...all four of us spotted him at once and encircled him with our noses right in his mouth!!! Dad yelled at us enough so we backed off...he ran in the garage & got a shovel and beheaded the snake! And he didnt' bite anybody...I guess he couldn't decide which one to bite, since he was surrounded! In the meantime, Woof-ergrabbed Dad's walkie-talkie that he had dropped, and took off with it, all the way out to the end of the driveway!! Another one grabbed his little stick he carries to take down spider webs and ran off with it another direction! Dad was finally able to locate all his stuff and continue our run!!! At least that snake won't be getting any more of my mom's birds, or threatening anybody!!! WHEW! I guess all's well that ends well! That was one mean-looking snake though!!!
