Arrival Story:
He and his brother & 2 sisters were "dropped off" in our barn around the end of August! When I went to feed the horses and barn cat, I noticed something moving in the stall nearby. I looked and there were 4 puppies looking at me! I spoke and they all got up & started wagging their tails! They had already emptied the trash can looking for food. They all had mange, worms, fleas...they were a mess! We found them on Friday & took them to the vet on Monday. He bathed them, treated them for worms & mange, and gave them their first shots. He estimated they were about 8 weeks old. The vet was surprised at how "socialized" they were...so somebody had them long enough to socialize them...and then dumped them. We guessed it was because they either didn't want to fool with, or couldn't afford to treat all their problems.

Our first "snake experience"!

Too much excitement!

We had enough excitement this morning to last awhile! We were running with our dad on his daily run, around the house down here, and when we got to my mom's bird feeding station, there was a cottonmouth moccasin coiled up with his mouth wide open, right under the feeders! (Probably why all the dove feathers were there yesterday!) Anyway...all four of us spotted him at once and encircled him with our noses right in his mouth!!! Dad yelled at us enough so we backed off...he ran in the garage & got a shovel and beheaded the snake! And he didnt' bite anybody...I guess he couldn't decide which one to bite, since he was surrounded! In the meantime, Woof-ergrabbed Dad's walkie-talkie that he had dropped, and took off with it, all the way out to the end of the driveway!! Another one grabbed his little stick he carries to take down spider webs and ran off with it another direction! Dad was finally able to locate all his stuff and continue our run!!! At least that snake won't be getting any more of my mom's birds, or threatening anybody!!! WHEW! I guess all's well that ends well! That was one mean-looking snake though!!!
