Arrival Story:
Our first Shar Pei, Montgomery had to be put to sleep back in April of 2006. I swore I would never have another pei, or even another dog for that matter. My heart was broken and it hurt so terribly to have to let Montgomery go. We began toying with the idea of getting another dog and we found an ad in the paper. A lady in Tyler, Texas had placed the ad selling 4 month old Shar Pei. She sent us pictures, and from what we saw, we just weren't that excited about him, but we decided to make the 2 hr drive and go see him anyway. When the lady brought him to the door, I fell in love that with face. His pictures just didn't do him justice. My dad and I couldn't agree on a name, so we just decided to keep the name they had already been calling him - Max.

I have a new little sister!

Grandma and Grandpa decided that I needed a playmate. Ever since my friend Pepper, who lived across the street disappeared, I have been very lonely and very sad. It just isn't the same with out another pup to play with. So my grandma and grandpa decided to get a little sister for me. Her name is Lucy Lu. She was named after Lucile Ball because has has a lot of red in her hair. She is almost 3 months old. She also has a LOT of wrinkles. A lot more than I ever did. She has about 5 or 6 chins. I love to grab her by the chin and pull her around. She loves to play a lot too, just like me. I like to take toys and tease her with them. I will let her have the toy for a few seconds and then I will take it away from her and run away trying to make her chase me. I like to jump up on the bed and look down at her. That drives her nuts that she's not big enough to get on the bed. She also snores like a freight train. The first few nights she was with us, she took over my bed and I slept on the floor. Then Lucy got her own bed. So far we are getting along great. I'm happy to have another pup to play with anytime I want!

Happy Birthday to ME! I turned ONE on last Friday. I’m just now getting around to putting some of the details down because man, I had a busy, busy weekend.

First my mom took the day off to spend my birthday with me. She got me a birthday hat that says, Today is my first birthday! I looked so cute. Pictures to come soon. My mom got me a new basted raw hide bone, a new squeaky toy and a new ball for my birthday. Mom took me home with her Friday night. I was kind of scared being in a strange place (her apartment) and I didn’t let her out of my site. I just can’t under stand why there are is a fence where I can’t get to the yard in these apartments. When I would whine wanting to get to the yard she would tell me that is why I don’t live with her – because I wouldn’t have a yard and a doggy door of my very own.

Saturday morning we got up really early, I had my breakfast and then we went down to the canal for a looooong walk. I got to meet other pups and lots of people. I got to see ducks and baby ducks, and turtles and squirrels. We walked for about 2 hours around the canal. It was so pretty. We met up with my Auntie and my cousins Rosie and Daisy Lou later that afternoon. We went to an event raising money for the SPCA in McKinney. I got to meet lots of pups there. I got a new bandana with my paw print stamped on it with purple paint. After that we tried to go to the Dog Park in Allen, but it was closed. I had never been to a dog park before where I could run and play with other pups before. I was a little dissapointed that it was closed. We walked around the park. By the time we headed back to mom’s apartment I was so pooped out I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I slept all the way back. We took a little nap and then we loaded up the car for the long trip back to grandpa’s house. I slept all the way there. I was happy to see my house, my yard and my doggy door, but most of all I was glad to see my best friend who lives across the street – Pepper!

I had a great birthday spending so much time with my mom. I was sad when she had to leave Sunday night. I know she will be back next weekend, but I still miss her when she goes.

NO MORE MEDICINE!!

Woof ! Woof! I'm so excited. No more medicine for me! I went back to the doctor last Friday morning and he said that my coat looked great. The medicine had done its job. I'm so happy. Every morning after breakfast I would run out the doggie door and stay outside hoping that Grandpa would forget to give me that yuky medicine. He never forgot.

Mom's been coming down and spending one night with me on the weekends. I have been sleeping in the bed with her for a while. Then I go and get in my bed. I always wake mom up at 7:30 sharp. I'm a growing boy! I want my breakfast!

Grandma and Grandpa had a bunch of people over to watch the Super Bowl last weekend. Man, I didn't know who to sniff first! So many people and so much attention. I loved all of the attention I got from everyone. It wore me out!
