Arrival Story:
Princess was used as a Puppy mill the first six years of her life and was treated VERY badly - she would flinch or whimper at any sudden movements, sometimes she'd even snap at your hand. It was very sad. As Lupe will attest, I am a sucker for a dog that needs TLC and a second chance.... my full intention was to try to modify Princess' behavior and find her a good home. I had only had Emit about a month when she joined our home and didn't really want another big dog. However, it took me almost two years to socialize her and by then, she was one of us, and I couldn't let her go even if I had found someone that would have met my requirements for her. She had special needs in the sense that she was leaky (a result of pushing 8 litters of pups through her at such a young age) and she would eat till she exploded if you let her. Just like with Emit's special needs, I didn't mind taking extra care of her. Because she was 62% wolf, I was always aware that she should not be around children, and that she could 'change' as she got older. But she never did. Right up until the day she died she was the sweetest, truly loving dog, I had ever known. Emit was lost without her for weeks. I was definately in an altered state after losing her for several days. I still miss her. I only wish I'd been able to show her and even better life for the EIGHT years she was with us.

Bio:
Princess, Emit, Lady, and I went to the 1st annual Mutt March 06/15/01. The march was a few miles and Princess made it like a trooper and won an 'award' (a toy) for being the Most Mature (oldest) dog on the march. Some of the photos here are from the Mutt March. The last photo of Princess was taken only two days before she died. I still think of her EVERY time I walk around the yard surveying the days work, as she used to follow me on this walk. We still miss her too. -------------------------- [The quick bio option said "part wolf" but shows up here as "part feral"..... "Feral" means menacing or savage.... I can absolutelyfrickinggarantee you there was nothing menacing or savage about Princess... unless you were the trash bag left unattended and contained food --- I take offence to Dogsters' usage and translation! >:o( ] Princess has her own memorial page at http://www.xxdz.com/memorials/Princess/index.html and The Kids have their own album at http://community.webshots.com/user/rosietx1 -- Come Visit!
