My friend offered us a puppy from her dog's litter. One day, her husband came to my office with a box that had the word "Porter" on it. So I called the new puppy, "Portia" and she took to her name almost instantly. At first, she was an aloof puppy, but she soon became comfortable with us and now she has the run of the backyard.
