KONG

Anything put in her bowl, not picky at all

Favorite Walk:
Only taken a few, walks are still scary

Best Tricks:
she buries anything she thinks is important, likes to come up behind a person and poke her head between their legs

Arrival Story:
A co-worker called to say there was a stray digging in the trash on her street and wondered if I would take in another dog. It took me a month of chasing this dog and leaving food/water before she would come to me. She has some teeth that are broken off at the gum line and some scaring on her muzzle and chest/neck area. She also had large open wounds on her back when I got her but everything is healed and well now. Her right wrist is loose and will bend side to side rather than just up and down from an old injury of some sort. Wouldn't it be great if they could talk and tell us what they've been through? Or where it hurts?

Bio:
Jane has been to the vet and had all her shots. She tested negative for heartworms, whew, and is now on prevention. She has opened up, no longer cowers or hides. She is one of the pack and jumps right in the middle of everything going on. She is a VERY happy dog and her smiles take up her whole face! She loves to sit in your lap, she loves to sleep in the bed, she loves to chase squirrels, she is just a happy dog!

A Day in the Life of Jane Dog...

Thunder is SCARY!!

Last night we had rain. Lots and lots of rain. There was lightening and then...THUNDER! I didn't know where to go. I couldn't get away from it and I was shaking all over. I sat in Daddy's lap for a while and he held me tight but I was still not happy. I went and sat in Mommy's lap but that didn't help at all. She kept getting up to go to the kitchen.

I followed her everywhere she went and I was panting loudly. Drool was falling from my mouth and my tail was down. My sister Bailey was just as scared as I was but she went into the boy's room so I was alone. My silly cat siblings and my sister Allie all went outside!!! Weirdos, I tell ya!

Mommy asked me how in the world I had survived on the streets for however long during the summer months if I was this afraid of thunder and Daddy said maybe that is why I am so afraid. I don't know why, I just know I am!!

The rain let up, it never stopped before I went to bed but the lightening and thunder stopped. I slowly calmed down and even started to play again before bedtime. Mommy thinks maybe I need some anxiety medication and is going to talk to my doctor.

I hope it doesn't thunder like this again for a long time!!

Life isn't so scary...

Since mommy found me living out of trash cans and running in the road she has tried really hard to convince me that no one is going to hurt me anymore. Lots of things still scare me though and a leash is one of them. Yesterday afternoon was such a pretty day that mommy decided we needed to take a walk in our neighborhood. She got the choke collar and leash down and everyone else went nuts because they wanted to go. She put the collar on ME!!!

I started out very timidly but then we ran into a lady mommy knows and we walked with her for a couple of blocks. Gosh at all the smells!! Then we turned and left the friend and went down the Rosewood Nature Trail. Mommy kept saying "Come on Jane, Good Girl." That was so much fun!!! I had the best time on my walk. I saw another dog and wanted to play SO bad but her people made her stay with them. Other dogs barked at me through the fences and I got to growl back. I saw kitties and kids. I picked my tail up and started prancing at the end of my lead. I was actually having a good time.

When we got home I was so happy and so totally wired that I ran around for like an hour. Jumping up on the couch and then running outside. I was just beside myself. I Love Walks!! That leash isn't such a bad thing. Maybe I can talk mommy into taking me again today!!
