Arrival Story: Ever since I was a child I wanted a Great Dane. I bought her from a breeder she came from a litter of 11. She was kinda skinny when she arrived but it didn't take much time for her be a chunky happy pup.

Bio: Sometime we think Cleopatra's name should been shadow because she follows you everywhere & when you stop sometime you have a doggie nose in your butt. It never took her long to warm up to a man before a woman..( Little tramp ) :) except for her mom, grandma & mom's best friend Sondra.
She was the fastest runner out all the Great Danes. She was so graceful like a deer. She was super smart & would out smart her husband Ceasar all the time to get a toy or certain spot on the sofa he was laying on she act like there was something exciting going on & look out the window barking then Ceasar get up to look & Cleo run over & get what she wanted. Then Ceasar have that goofy look on his face .."Like ahh she got me again"! :b
Cleopatra went to stay with my mom(Grandma), step dad & niece Sarah in "2002" just while we needed a dog sitter for a couple weeks but then my mom bought a house in the country and she had no other dogs they figured she enjoy country life better then being in the city. So thats where she been since "2002" . They eventually adopted another puppy named Spade who she played with. She also made friends with a goat that lived next door that she loved but sadly the goat & his family moved away. :(
Cleopatra has been showing signs of pain. She could no longer go upstairs, leap over streams, or stand up to greet you. The vet had diagnosed her with hip dysplasia. She was getting pain medication twice a day for a while but seemed to start feeling better.
As months went by Cleo seemed like she was getting better she stopped the meds but eventually her front paw now started to swell so she was put on antibotics & predisane it seemed to help for a while then suddenly she stopped eating all together and her paw then swelled to 5 times its normal size. She was rushed to the vet and her paw xrayed. The vet then sawl the bone cancer & it was bad. It had traveled to her lymph nodes and there was not much the vet could do. She was skin & bones weighing only 83 pounds since she stopped eating all together. So we had no choice but to end her suffering and say goodbye to her and let her go home to the lord & rest in peace with her son Calub. She died just 7 days after her 9th birthday.

Cleopatra's paw had been swelling for about a month & she was being treated with antibotics & predisane & the swelling would go down but then it just come back the vet x-rayed the leg & sawl Osteosarcoma & said it had traveled to her lymph nodes & there was no way of stopping the spreading of the cancer now. Her paw was so big & swollen. Her Vet said she could of keep getting pains meds but eventually her bone was going to just snap from the cancer eating away her bone. Cleopatra had already stopped eating for days and lost 6 pounds within those days and was down to 83 pounds. She was all bones. They(my mom, brother & niece) didn't let me know that Cleo had died Dec 10th until the night after worried about me getting to upset while I was pregnant knowing I would of wanted to be there with her. I know my niece Sarah will miss sleeping with her they always fuss over the sofa & end up sharing it :(
My step father told my brother the last night before she past away she sat on the sofa leaning back just looking at Sarah sleeping like she was thinking & knowing this would be her last day with her loved ones on earth. She was cremated the next day & my mom who was Cleopatra's mom & grandma will be picking her ashes up on wedensday dec 12. 2007. Cleopatra had just turned 9yrs old on dec,3. The night after Cleo passed my mom woke up in the middle the night crying & looking for Cleo. Our christmas will not be the same without our Cleopatra to share it with us. I imagine Calub Cleopatra's son who died almost a year ago was waiting at heaven gate to greet his beautiful mother.
