Arrival Story:
Mommy and Daddy told me that they had recently lost one of their dogs, Mr. Lydon Wiggles, and Mr. Puggles was in need of a new friend to keep him company. Mommy saw me online and filled out the adoption application thinking she wouldn't hear back from the people for a long time, and funny enough, they called her two days later! So she and Daddy came to meet me on Sunday, Oct. 1, just to introduce me to Mr. Puggles and see how great a dog I am. They were originally going to leave me there at the animal sanctuary for a while as they weren't sure if they could handle getting a dog so close to Lydon's passing to the rainbow bridge, but one hug from me and I suckered 'em in! Next thing I knew, Mommy was signing papers and soon enough I was in the car on the freeway to my FURever home!

Jock was rescued by Precious Lives Animal Sanctuary in Akron, OH in January, 2004, he was found hit by a car and has been at the shelter ever since. No one ever claimed him, and in all that time, no one ever wanted to take him home. But now here we are! The past is the past, and Jock now has a new beginning!

Jacques will be put to rest this afternoon after putting up one hell of a fight with cancer. We will miss him more than words can say.

Tonight Mommy came home after having disappeared for a long time with this blue metal tag shaped like a bone, and on it it says "JACQUE".
She told me she chose it because it sounds the same, so I don't have to feel confused, and because it sounds more pristine, because I am such a perfect gentleman.

Today before Daddy left, I showed him how easy I am to get in the crate! Mommy and Daddy weren't very fond of crating dogs but I am so used to it during the day from where I am from, I feel safer that way. And Mr. Puggles didn't bother me at all. In fact he laid in bed all day until Daddy came home to let us out to go run around outside.

I can't wait for the weekend, I'm going to go back to the dog park and meet more of Puggles' friends. He's a pretty cool dude and any friend of his is a friend of mine!

Ok, So Here's My Story

So, somehow, years ago, I was hit by a car. Some nice people picked me up and took me to the hospital and from there, my entire life changed. I stayed at that hospital for a while, had a hip dislocation, but nothing else bad came of it. Then I was sent to the sanctary which is run by the hospital. This nice lady in Akron gave up her house to take care of dogs like me and hundreds of others, as well as cats and birds and well, you name it!
Anyway, that was in 2004. And so I'd been having a good time, living the shelter life as best I could since then. I got callouses on my elbows cus of sleeping on hard floors. I got some teeth missing on the bottom in the front, but hey, it gives me character. AND I got a nasty cut on my ear, from one of the dogs at the shelter, but I'll live!

So, today marks my first day as a real pet! I am in a warm house now, with only one other dog who hasn't given me much trouble except he wants to play all the time and I wanna just soak up and chill out. My new Mommy is always petting me and when she stops, I nuzzle her so she pets me some more. My Dad is way cool and is really laid back and doesn't scare me one bit. I was afraid on the way home cus I wasn't sure where they were takin' me but I got over that. Now I'm totally in wuv!

They took me to the dog park, I met Mr.Puggle's friends there. I mostly hung out with Mommy though. They told me about Lydon, and how awesome a dog he was, and that I'm not his replacement, but simply a new addition, and that even if Lydon were still alive, I'd still be here!!

Then I saw the new house. Holy crap?!!? Couches I can lay on! carpeting!? food, treats, and pillows?!?! Boy I tell ya this is the life. I'm rags to riches , baby!

Now, I don't remember where I got my name from. People at the shelter have been callin' me Jock for years. But I'm not sure that the name fits me in my new life. Mommy feels the same, but we can't think of a name that fits right now, and we don't wanna confuse me either. So, we'll see.

Anyway, I'm gonna sleep in a heavenly bed tonight. Boy oh boy, I can't wait to write to the dogs still at the shelter and tell them how awesome this is.
