Arrival Story: Vote for ChiChi in the World's Coolestdog pictures & breed info
I wanted a pet, and couldn't get a cat at the time. Everyone else in my family had cats (and still do). I'd never had a dog before: the last dog I remember my family having was when I was very young and I don't remember much about him except the day he got hit by a car. So we went to shelters looking for a smaller dog for me to get. While we were at the Tulsa Animal Shelter, I passed by this cage with this skinny dog with HUGE ears who looked at me with these big brown eyes & cried a little. I came back to that cage 3 times. We even looked at another shelter after that one, but I had already decided! It was a Saturday and the following Monday was Labor Day, so I had to wait until Tuesday to get her because she had to be fixed before they'd let me take her home.

Bio: I brought ChiChi home exactly one week before the 9/11 attacks. My car broke down the day after I picked her out, so my mom took me to pick her up. She was all ears then. I thought she was somehow a blue heeler/chihuahua mix until the vet told me she was a dachshund mix. I also thought she was older & wouldn't get much bigger, but boy, was I wrong! And then she gained a lot of weight, so she's overweight for the moment. She's just started thyroid medicine & has been on it for a month or 2 now, and it's making a difference. She's starting to look thinner! I named her ChiChi after a character on the cartoon Dragonball Z.

Apparently, a baby is a tiny version of mommy and daddy that cries a LOT. Cries, and smells. And has no control over its arms and legs, which is bad if you happen to be in the line of fire. But I still love my baby brother. I like to lick the top of his head, and I check in on him often while he's sleeping, especially at night, to make sure he is safe and sound. I like him best while he's sleeping, because he's quiet then! I am a little sad because I don't get as much attention as I used to and now I have to share my spot on the sofa with him, but mommy says once he's older I'll like him even more and he and I will be best friends!

Mom & Dad keep talking about something called a baby and how there's going to be here in May. I'm not sure what a baby is, but I'm not too thrilled about something else vying for Mom & Dad's attention. I should get all of their attention, all the time.
In good news, Mom's belly is getting kinda round. It's SO much easier to lay my head on her belly now. It's the perfect curve for my neck. Hope this "baby" thing doesn't think it's going to take over my spot!
