I hope all my pup pals never have to be coneheads :( (That's an e-collar for you humans!)
I've been having allergies. That means a lot of scratching. The vet gave me medicines and put me on hypoallergenic food (goodbye Cowboy Cookout... with gravy... sniff). I was scratching my tummy and paw raw so she put a cone on my head.
I looked so silly! I was also banging into things for the first day. Couldn't climb the stairs until I learned to hold my head up. It was soooooo stupid.
Couldn't even get into my crate so mommy let me sleep in their bedroom. She gave me my own blanket at the foot of the bed. It took a night or two to get used to it but now I like it! Dunno if I wanna go back to my crate....
Anyway, the cone is gone now and I never want to see it again! I hope none of you ever get coned!
Wags to all

I'm sleepy.
It's been raining beags and beags here.
When it's raining I can't go on a nice long walk. Sad.
But at least it's nice and cool and I can sleeeeepppp.
Zzzzz.
Oh! I got a taste of human food. Some "ganiza" thingy. YUM! Need to sneak around and get more of that. Shhhhh.
Okie, back to sleep.

Wow it's been a long time since I've been here!
I'm 3 years old today, and so many things have happened in the last 5 months! I moved, I got sick, I got better, I made a lot of friends... lots of stuff. Some good, some bad, but nothing that a little beagle like me can't handle. :)
The only gift I want is happiness and health for all my family and friends! Maybe I'll write a little more here, maybe I won't, but I'll always love you my pup pallies!

Hi everyone!
I haven't had much to say in the past months, even if they were really eventful. I guess a beag's life gets too hectic to blog! (Ok not really, I just needed to move my lazy butt to do it.) So here are my new year's resolutions!
1. Blog more!
2. Eat less!
3. Be happy!
That's going to be tough. Except for number 3 of course!
Have a beaglish new year everyone!

Ah-roo! Mommy and Daddy watched Maroon 5's concert last night. It was PAWSOME! Daddy's left eardrum was kind of busted due to "i love you, adam" screams every two minutes, but it was all worth it! Mommy couldn't get enough of Adam...kept singing and wiggling from start to finish! The tickets cost an arm and a leg (they got patron seats!) but mommy didn't care! I am happy my humans had a grand time. I heard they are watching Harry Connick and his Big Band next on March 15. Goody!
Mommy is about to start her photography classes. Why do I have this weird feeling that I"d be one of her first subjects? Well, not bad! I 'd like thaaat! Being a celebrity wouldn't hurt, would it? Huh, Uno?
Have a good one, pup pals!

They finally got it right at the Westminster Dog Show! After around a gajillion years, A BEAGLE FINALLY WON!
I dunno how they kept picking the silly poodles and what have you, when it's very clear that beags rule.
That's right, we, the BEAGS, RULE. All you other breeds can drown your sorrows in gravy.
WOOHOO!

My mommy's decided to change her life a bit, so she's been home for the past weeks figuring stuff out. Since she was around a lot, she let me walk around the house unsupervised for the first time ever! I guess that means I'm a big beag now! :)
I still get the urge to do naughty stuff sometimes (I CAN'T HELP IT) so mommy got The Bottle to remind me to be good. The Bottle is loud and he makes a racket when I forget stuff I shouldn't be doing. I don't see him much anymore! See, I can be good!
I've also been scratching quite a bit again, so all my treats have suddenly gone away. :( I'm scratching less now, so maybe I'll get some of those back? (I also get told I need to go on a diet! I'm not THAT fat!)
It's been a long day today so I'm gonna take a nap on the carpet.
Take care pups!

I got to play "kuya" (that's "big brother" in Filipino) to a couple of 2-month 0ld male mini pinschers, Mojo and Coco. Dad was concerned because the two pups were each around as big as my head, and they were rambunctious as puppies (and pinschers!) tend to be.
I was a good big beag babysitter, letting the pups yap and dance and have their way while just nosing them around. It was fun! There were the human kids also milling about, a few of the bigger humans, and one human puppy who looked as sleepy as I felt.
I was really sleepy! A chunk of my naptime was spent at the vet getting a bath and my ears taken care of. I managed to pick up another ear infection from somewhere, and I hate the eardrops. But it's all good! I get munchies and my tummy tickled when my humans try to get that watery stuff in my ear. That makes up for the icky feeling!
I love being a beag. :)
Stay shiny pup pals,

It's gonna be 2008 in just under a couple of hours here in my home in Manila, the Philippines. I wanted to wish all my canine pals a prosperous new year, full of hugs and treats and chases and all the things that we doggies enjoy.
May your lives be full of love and may you be hale and hearty all throughout the new year. 2008 is gonna be great! I can feel it from the tip of my nose to the tip of my beagley tail!
Take care everyone, and stay shiny!

Hello everyone! I've missed all of you. The family's been getting used to our new routine. My parents are back to regular human stuff, so we've all been adjusting. I've got a new big soft couchie to replace my old yellow one (I miss it, but I do love my new couchie) and I've got a couple of new treats to keep me stuffed!
Christmas is in the air, and I'm doing my beagley best to spread a little love and cheer around! I wish I was a little bigger so I could spread more love and cheer, but little ol' me is gonna do what I can to be a good boy!
Have a good holiday season and be safe everyone!

It's been a crazy past three months for my family. There've been a lot of changes, and people coming and going. My mom and dad have been really, really stressed. They've also been angry and sad and tired and several more human emotions that a beagley like me can't understand. But I know that it's been tough for them. But through it all, no matter how they feel, they've always made sure that I'm taken care of. I've done my best to help, by being happy when they need cheering up and trying to be quiet when they're trying to figure all that really hard human stuff out.
Sometime I feel like I should help out more, but there really isn't much a beagley can do but smile and try to brighten their day. I hope that it helps them. Because I love them and really hate to see them cry.
Take care of your humans, my doggy friends. Sometimes just a toothy smile, a vigorous wag or a really wet lick can help them smile too. It's not much, but if it makes their day just a bit brighter it's worth it.
Stay shiny

When my pawrents want me to stay out of trouble, but want to give me some room to move around and be my beagley self, I get leashed to My Yellow Couch. It's a steel two-seater sofa that turns into a bed. There's enough room under it for me to crawl (or slide when I'm off leash and running) through from the dining room to the living room. I've also gotten strong enough to drag the couch when I'm excited. I'm a strong little beagley!
I also love hanging out under My Yellow Couch. I'm there when I want to take a nap, or when I'm playing hide and seek, or when the humans want to put me to bed or give me a bath. I've chewed off the plastic ends of the arms (mom wasn't pleased). I enjoy sniffing the seat of My Yellow Couch, so it's not so yellow anymore.
Last weekend, mom wanted to replace My Yellow Couch with something a bit more presentable. She dragged daddy couch shopping. After sitting on dozens of couches and looking at prices, colors and styles, mommy decided that the couch needed to have enough room under it so I can still crawl (and slide!) from the dining room to the living room.
Nope, there were none. All of the couches were low to the ground. So she and daddy came home without a new couch. I still have My Yellow Couch, and I still nap and hide and play under it.
I love my mommy.

Yay! It's my birthday!
My pawrents adopted me when I was 2 1/2 months old. It's been a fantastic 9 1/2 months with them, and I love them all to bits. I'm a lucky little beag, and I just know that all of my birthdays are gonna be just as good as this one.

Hi pups, it's been a stressful couple of days.
I don't think I'll ever understand why humans fight so much.
I know I'm just a dumb little beagle puppy, but I already know that nothing's so important to me that it'll make me fight with my pawrents. I'll never hurt them if I can help it. Ok, sometimes I forget myself and scratch them or clamp down a bit hard with my teeth when I'm excited, but I don't do that on purpose. Honest! :( And when I screw up, like chewing something I shouldn't or peeing somewhere I shouldn't, I get forgiven after a scolding.
Even if my humans forget to feed me, or leave me in my crate for hours, or are too busy to play with me I'll never get mad at them. They don't do any of that (these are really great humans!) but if they ever did I know in my puppy heart that they didn't do it on purpose. Because I know they love me (and I get a yummy treat when they make up for the boo-boo!). They'll never hurt me just because.
I'm just a silly little beagle, but humans should feel the same way about each other right? If a human knows that another human loves it, it knows that human will never deliberately hut it?
Sigh. It's hard for my puppy brain to understand. I wish I was bigger and smarter so I could help my humans. I know being a human is so much more complicated than being a beag... still I can't help but be very sad when they fight.
My humans all love each other. I'm sure about that. Even if I'm just a poor dumb little puppy. But I don't know what to do about it. :(

My pawrents and I are sorta relieved that I'm on Canidae now. If the forum posts are right and some dry kibble is/may be part of the Menu foods recall, it's a relief to be on kibble that's independently produce and contains none of that Chinese wheat gluten.
The humans also tossed the sorta-rancid-smelling big bag of Science Diet puppy biscuits. I almost cried when those treats went into the trash, but I guess it's for the best.
I hope that all you pups out there have pawrents that are vigilant and know to switch you to safe food.
Be safe all

So I'm now completely on Canidae All Life Stages and my pawrents are raving about my nice, shiny coat. I'm also scratching a lot less, and the hot spot on my leg is healing. Dad still cleans it nightly with hydrogen peroxide and betadine, but there's a noticeable growth of my white fur growing on it. Mom's happy about that!
With the switch to Canidae, my humans also decided to wean me off the junk food that I love so much. (That's Science Diet puppy biscuits, and Beggin' Strips - I love me my Beggin' Strips!) So now I'm getting slices of chilled apple and banana. That took getting used to, but I've learned to enjoy them! Dad still gives me my yogurt-and-peanut butter Kong though. I think I'll put up a disobedience protest if they stop giving me peanut butter! (Just kidding - I love my humans too much to do anything they disapprove of.)
(I don't mean to anyway. Honest.)
(I'm a beagle puppy! I can't help it!)
Stay shiny,
Boogie! :)
PS: The humans still eat their junk food out of those shiny bags. How come they get to do that AND eat fruit? Sometimes it's not fair being a poor little beagle pup. :(
(I still love you mom and dad and aunty!)

Like most pups, my pawrents took me home from the breeder along with a 5-lb bag of Science Diet Small Bites for Puppies. Since both my pawrents have never had a purebred pup before, and were told that SD is great (it says so on the bag!) they fed it to me with confidence. Me? I gobbled the stuff up. (Hey, I'm a beagle, eating is what I do best! :)) ) Of course, I pooped a lot too. And I had skin allergies.
My vet, Dr. Joy, also recommended SD as a great food. They stock the usual stuff, SD, Alpo, Pedigree, Royal Canin, IAMS and Eukanuba. So my pawrents kept me on SD with confidence.
Then, my humans found Dogster. They read the forums, especially the nutrition. After a lot of reading and thought and going over the backs of the bags in the vet's office while waiting for me during shot days, I was switched over to Eukanuba Lamb & Rice. I was about 5 months old at the time. My humans decided they didn't want me eating by-product as much as possible, and at the very least the Euk had LAMB as the first ingredient and not the grains that SD had.
Now, I started to poop a lot less than when I was on SD. But shortly after my switch, I developed a demodex problem, and now I'm experiencing more skin allergies. (I talked about it in my diary, and in this forum thread: http://www.dogster.com/forums/thread.php?t=392085)
So, amid the medicated shampoo and cefalexin and Atarax, the humans again suspected that it wasn't just the heat and maybe something in the kibble was doing this to me. Problem is, where do you go when your alternatives are Alpo and Pedigree? (More grains, an none of them rice.)
A couple of days ago my dad goes out to get me a new rawhide bone (I love the things) and a new bag of kibble. He goes to this little new pet supply nearby. So, he pulls another 4-lb bag of Euk off the shelf and takes it to the checkout. While waiting in line, he looks around the well-stocked store. Pedigree, Euk, SD, Alpo, Canidae, ...
Canidae?
CANIDAE ALL LIFE STAGES!
He takes out his Blackberry and checks the web. Yup, it's THAT Canidae all right. JACKPOT. It's US$12 a 5-lb bag (the Euk is US$6 a 4-lb bag) , but what the hell?
So he pulls the Euk off the counter and grabs a 5-lb bag of Canidae. I'm now having the Euk and Cani half-and-half, and I love the new stuff. I'm wondering why they're feeding me even less kibble now (my mom was asking my dad if he was sure that I'd survive on just ONE CUP of kibble a day), but mom's been sneaking me bananas so I'm not about to complain. :-$
So, my pawrents are hoping that the supply of Canidae is steady (it's probably shipped by slow boat from the US to the Philippines) and they're also hoping that the better food will help me get rid of these skin problems.
From Science Diet, to Eukanuba Lamb & Rice, to Canidae All Life Stages in 9 months. Not bad for a little beagle in Southeast Asia. |$|
If any pups in Manila want to know where my Canidae is coming from, drop me some pawmail!
Thanks for reading, and stay shiny pups!

Diary of the Day! ME?! COOL! AWESOME! GET OUTTA HERE!
Oh, sorry dad.
Ahem. It's an honor to be chosen by the Dogster Powers that Be as the Diary of the Day! I've already met lots of great Dogsters and you've all been very generous with kind words, treats, rosettes and invitations to be buddies!
See dad? I told you that someone actually reads the stuff I put on here. I win the bet, you owe me a peanut butter and banana-stuffed Kong! :)

It's starting to get really hot around here, and I'm itching a lot. :( It seems to be worst when I'm in my crate. I even developed this hot spot on my ankle that's sooooo itchy. I nibble on it to stop the tiching but mom gets upset when she sees the big red spot. I've also been flaking a bit and there are some bald spots on my right side. Geez, this after the demodex. I hate skin problems.
The vet prescribed me medicated baths twice a week (yuck) and some antibiotics. Over a week into the treatment I'm still itching a lot.
Dad called the vet and she gave me some medicine (Atarax) to help with the itch. Dad's also suspecting that there's something in Eukanuba Lamb and Rice that I might be allergic to but he doesn't want to change my kibble while I'm on the meds.
Oh well. I hope this itching goes away!

It's starting to get warmer around here! It used to be nice and chilly in the mornings when daddy takes me out for my "walk at dawn". Perfect for me and my weatherproof coat! Especially when it's raining lightly. Fun! Not so fun for daddy though, he always complains that it's cold. He's stopped complaining now, and I start panting after just half an hour of walking around. By the time we head home after an hour, I'm panting hard especially after climbing the seven flights of stairs! Well, anything to help daddy get his exercise. :)
Stay shiny!

I've been shaking my head a lot lately because my ears feel funny. My pawrents took me to see the vet. They didn't find any bugs in there, but the inside of my ears looked pink and all so I got eardrops for ten days. Ugh! I hate it when stuff gets puts in my ears!
The vet said that if I keep flopping my ears too much, I might hurt myself. Oh well. I wish my ears weren't so big sometimes, but mom seems to like them. Such a hassle, sort of like when humans complain about having long head-fur.

My dad brought home a funny looking object last night. It was a long blue thing with long dangling stuff from one of its ends. After taking me out to whiz and poo, and playing for a while, he took the new thing and connected it to the picture box in the living room.
When mom came home, they had dinner and then they started howling into the the blue stick that they were calling a "Magic Sing" whatever that means. I'm just a poor little puppy, but I've heard a lot better howling than my pawrents were doing! (My dad's a much better howler than my mom. Aroooooo!)
My aunty came home later and then SHE started rooo'ing (a nice, high, quiet roo!) into the stick. It was almost midnight before they stopped.
And they say us beagles are noisy howlers!

Happy new year everyone!
My first holidays ever were a blast! (Hey I'm only seven months old!) My pawrents took me out one weekend but I had a fit of excess excitement and it got a bit out of hand. I can't help it! I want to meet and greet every single human! Especially human pups!
So we were home for most of the holidays, but that was great because my pawrents were home a lot! I got lots n lots of playtime, and lots n lots of treats! For Christmas I got a new Fetchable squeaky monkey, but I broke him in two days. :( He's now over at Gramma's getting well, along with my other Fetchable buddy Simba. I hope they come home soon, I miss them!
New year's eve was a BLAST! The humans are a bit crazy, you know? They make all kinds of loud sounds. Doesn't bother me, I'm a beagle! *wag* So I slept through the racket after a big new year's dinner and a long night of playtime. My tongue was hanging out all evening!
I thought 2006 was great, and I just know that 2007 will be even better!
Take care pups, and stay shiny!

My family and I took another trip today, this time to the birthday party of grandma! There were a lot of humans milling around. My folks were nice enough to bring my crate along, but I preferred to spend most of the day meeting all the humans!
I especially liked the human puppies. Some of them were shy, but I found a couple of them that were happy to play with me most of the afternoon. Mom wanted me to get some sleep in my crate but with so many humans around I wanted to play with everyone! I could sleep later. :)
The humans were very funny. Most of the afternoon they were just taking turns howling. My auntie said it was called "karaoke". It's all howling to little ol' me!
All the playing was well worth the trip! As usual, I enjoyed sticking my head out of the big moving crate. On the way home, I finally got so tired and it was so nice and cold inside the big moving crate so I curled up on dad's lap and went to sleep.
I was so glad to get home and crawl into my nice cozy crate and catch up on my missed nap time. What a great day!
Take care everyone!

After my trip to the vet for my shot last Sunday, my family took me for a ride. I'm not crazy about being in the moving box ("car") too long because I get dizzy. But if the window is open, it's fun to stick my head out and feel the breeze! It's boring waiting when the car is stopped for some reason.
Anyway, we end up having lunch at this Chinese place. My mom, dad and aunt I mean. They packed my kibble lunch for me! Yay! They ate outside because the place wouldn't let puppies in (boo!). It was so HOT! It was even hotter for little ol' me because my mom bought me this red jersey (it's red and says "Yao 11" on the back - maybe they mean yowl?) and I wasn't used to wearing it. I was panting really quick! It wasn't fun for my family either so we hightailed it outta there quick. But while we were there we got some pix taken. I like the one where I'm crossing the street with my auntie!
So we got out of there and headed for some place cooler. We ended up at a shady place where my folks could sit around and drink coffee. I enjoyed watching the humans walk by, but the hot place earlier made me tired.
We didn't stay long and headed home. I was so tired and hot that after sticking my head out of the car for a while, I headed in and stuck my head next to the cold wind hole ("airconditioner?) of the car. It felt so good after the hot place. I think I fell asleep in my daddy's arms. I was dog tired!
When we got home, I lapped up a lot of ice cold water and curled up in my crate for a nice long nap.
What a day!
Take care everyone!

I visited the vet with my mom and dad last Sunday. After that, my mom had a great idea - take me to the mall! I didn't know what a "mall" was, but it sounded like an adventure! I like adventures!
The icky part was I had to be stuck in the car for a long time. I don't really like being in the car. I got sorta sick because of all the moving around and I threw up a bit. Mom had to clean me up. She then had a great idea of opening the window. I got to stick my head out and watch the world go by! That was great! Specially when we were moving really fast and a big wind was going by!
Anyway we got to where we were going and it was really cool! There were so many people! Mom and dad stopped at a place called "Starbucks" or something and I got to hang around and greet all the people walking by. So many people! I got fed and watered out of paper cups. That was cool!
After that we walked and walked and walked. So many people! When we got back to the car it was the most tired I've ever been. But the whole adventure was sure worth it!
I can't wait for another trip to the mall!

My mommy had a tough day today.
I could tell that she was working hard, but she wasn't happy. I think she's too hard on herself.
I wish I could help her. I'm just a little pup. All I can do is wag my tail and lick my mom when she asks for a kiss and be good and be nice and quiet when mommy is working. It's not a lot but what else can a little pup like me do to help my mom? I wish I was smarter. :(
I really hope that everything turns out great for my mom. She takes great care of me. I want to do my best to take good care of her to. At least as well as a little beag like me can do. I love my mom.

I love my mom. I'm with her most of the day. She's always reading these big thick books, but she always takes some time to play with me and feed me. I know she's really busy right now.
I heard that next week she gets to take a break. Yippee! I'm looking forward to that. She works too hard, and I know that taking care of me is more work for her. I try to be a good pup for her but sometimes I can't help myself. :( I think I'll try even harder to be a good pup.
I wonder what we can do together when she gets vacation time? Whatever it is, it's gonna be fun and I can't wait! *wag wag wag*

My vet called my mom and dad and said I have to take some medicine. I started yesterday and I'm feeling better now. I hope to be all the way healthy soon! The sick puppy food is okay but I like my kibble a lot better.
Mom and dad also got me a couple of new toys! They're green-and-white puppy Kongs! I've only gotten to play with one, and no treat on it yet because of my tummy trouble, but I'm looking forward to it when I get better!

It's official, I have puppy runs (my mom and dad use a big word... diarrhea is how it's spelled I think). :(
I'm pooping a lot, and it sorta hurts. My vet checked my poo and says it's nothing serious, and gave me some special food that comes in a can. I miss my puppy kibble, but this isn't bad. My poor mom, dad and aunt have to clean up after me a lot. I know it tires them out after working all day.
I hope I get well soon.

This morning I had some tummy trouble. :( My dad walked me and I had to go twice. So my mom and dad took me to see the vet. They checked me (I'm over 10 pounds now!) and my vet, Josephine, said I was okay. Must've been something I ate. She gave me something yummy in a tube for my tummy.
I also got a bath today! Yuck! They're using some special shampoo to clean up something icky that was ruining my fur and making me itch. I still hate it when they clean my ears!
Oh well. My dad and mom put up pics of my neato Vari-Kennel! It's a Pet Cargo 500, and I love it to bits! They also gave me a Nylabone. It's ok, but nothing to get too excited about. I accidentally bit mommy's toe while munching on it! :(
Maybe I'll get something neat again that I can tell you about next time.
Bye for now!

Hi! I'm Boogie! I'm only 15 weeks old. My owners haven't had a dog in a while and I'm their first beagle! I don't think they expected me to have all this energy. What can I do? I want to play all the time, every time. I think I wear them out too much, but I make up for it in entertainment value!
My folks got me a nice new Vari-Kennel last week. It's really nice! I've already started chewing on the corners outside. I get lots of sleep in it! I think my owners were happier when they figured out that I'd be happy lazing around in my room for several hours a day. Playing and chewing are hard work!
I'll get my dad to put up a pic of my crate next time. Bye for now!
Boogie! :)
