Arrival Story: We were vacationing in the Chesapeake Bay area, and one morning, a dog walked out of the water and up to our house. He was starving, scared, covered in at least 20 ticks, and later we found out that he also had hookworm. We fed him, and put medicine on the ticks to kill them. Because of the ticks, we couldn't let him in the house. Since we were on vacation, we sometimes had to go out, in which case he would run after our car for at least a block before returning to the house and waiting. He was very afraid of us at first, and we suspected he was mistreated and possibly used for dog fighting. He was afraid to have his head petted, and would hunch over, tail between legs, expecting to be hit. He stayed with us for a week before we had to return home, and make a decision to keep him or not. We knew we couldn't leave him, and so we took our new dog, Tix, home with us. He is now the happiest, healthiest pup there could be! Bio: Tix loves best when people go in the water with him because he will swim up to you and expect you to hold him so he doesn't have to swim! And if you don't he'll doggy paddle all over you- Ouch!
