Pet-Peeves: Milo getting more attention then me, baths, toe nail trimming and I really hate the vacuum cleaner it is so scary!!
Favorite Toy: My favorite toy is my squeeky newspaper and my red rope tug but I also like to chew on Milo and my dad's motorcycle. My mom just got me the coolest toy in the world... it's a kong. I especially love stuffed Kongs!!
Favorite Food: Greenies, Greenies, and more Greenies!!! I also love anything that's in the garbage can but my mom put puppy locks on all the cabinets so I can't get into the garbage anymore...IT'S NOT FAIR!!
Favorite Walk: I love to go to the dog park!! I also love to go to Ocean Shores and chase the foam from the waves!!
Best Tricks: I am a genius you know, here is a list of my tricks: sit-up, high five, rollover, crawl, shake paws, head down, take a bow, cross your feet, are you sad (cover face), spin, wave, speak, speak quiet, sneeze (almost), place, back up, jump in to mom's arm!
Arrival Story: My mom and dad went to the pound looking for a puppy but when they saw 6 month old me it was love at first sight.... I have that affect on people. I knew right away that I also wanted to go home with them. The pound had named me "Fritz" (like on the fritz) but my mom thought it sounded like a name for a small dog so she named me Riley because someone had said "that dog is all riled up" I think it is the perfect name. My mom and dad say that I am the best dog they could have ever asked for... and they aren't so bad either. What a great life I have, I am super lucky to have found them and they think the same about me.
Bio: This is what my mom says about me: He is a constant ball of energy. He will chase anything that moves, his new favorite is Daddy's new dart board he jumps up the wall to try to get the darts. He gets these little bursts of energy and runs around the house like a mad man, grabbing and shaking anything that gets in his way. He loves to go swimming but hates to take a bath, I could never figure that one out. After he gets out of the bath he takes all his frustration out on the towel and the carpet. He keeps us entertained and we love him!!! He has so many different facial expressions, it always makes me wonder what he is thinking. He is always smiling and wagging his tail, so I know that he is a happy dog. He is a great companion and we are so lucky to have him in our family.
OMD! Mom got the following emailed to her and failed to read the warning: get your tissues out!
I Rescued A Human Today
I rescued a human today. Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid. As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them. As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life. She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship. A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.
So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one. I rescued a human today…
Ok... so I know I've been gone a while... and let me tell you - it's been so tough not coming on Dogster to visit all my WONDERFUL pals. Mom decided to get a second job during Christmas, which than continued on until now... then she decided she liked her second job more than her first job so she went full-time to her second job and went part-time to her first job.... did you follow that? Needless to say she's been pretty busy not leaving much time for Dogster... but things seem a little calmer now and we hope to be here much much more because frankly this our favorite place to be!! Oh yeah I almost forgot Mom has also been helping out a dog trainer to trade for training me. So I guess techniqely she has had 3 jobs although the third one is pretty fun.
I hope all my pals have been doing well and I hope to get back in the loop really really soon.
My pals and I are going to be walking in the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society's 2007 Dog-A-Thon. We are trying to raise $500 for homeless animals. If any of you would like to donate you can go to this site firstgiving.com. Please help us reach our goal and help to save lives. YOU ROCK!!!
