Arrival Story: Aiki was rescued from the pound in Colorado Springs when he was 9 months old. He was my first dog, and I fell in love with him the first day I saw him.
Bio: I named him Aiki, because I was practicing aikido when I got him. Aikido is a martial art that means "the way of peace" or "the way of harmony with ki (the universal energy)". Aiki was so spastic when I got him, that I thought naming him "harmony with ki" was nicely ironic.

Well, mommy says I've been "bunny hopping" down stairs for a while now. I haven't seen any bunnies, though. I'd sure like to chase one if I see one.
I've been going to the chiropractor, and I love Dr. Jan! She pets me all over, moves a hips there, pushes a shoulder a little over there, and then I go down the stairs like normal for about a week or so. I had to miss a week, and now I'm hopping a lot. I did get acupuncture on Friday that helped, but tonight mommy pressed on my hips just a little bit, and I yelped. Luckily, I have chiro on Tuesday and acupuncture on Friday. Mom will also ask about increasing my glucosamine and if it's time to consider Rimadyl or some other anti-inflammatory.
I still feel young, but I just can't run or jump or fetch like I used to. Still, I'm doing great for a pup who will be 12 in July (just before mommy's wedding!).

1. I can turn in mid-air as I catch a frisbee, ball, stick, etc.
2. When I'm frustrated, I grumble and dance back and forth with my front legs!
3. I don't like change, unless it's a new toy or a new place to run off-leash.
4. No one can believe that I'm almost 10 years old, since I'm still usually the fastest dog around!
5. I *love* my post-beach spa treatment of getting rubbed down with a soft towel.
6. I once jumped into the hot tub with mommy when she wouldn't pay attention to me!
7. My favorite snack in the whole world is BULLY STICKS!
