Arrival Story:
A friend from out of town came to visit us in mid-October 2006. Since he hadn't been to Arizona before, he wanted us to take him out to see saguaros. So, we drove south of Phoenix, towards Casa Grande, took a few turns off the highway, and onto a dirt road. About 10 minutes down the dirt road, properly inthe middle of nowhere, we stopped for a picture opportunity. There was nothing but desert for miles. Before I even set foot on the ground, there was a puppy frantically jumping up on me. There weren't even houses around! We have no idea if he was lost, a stray, or dropped off. We cut our trip short, and took him home. We weren't sure how Ajax would react to another dog (usually he ignores them) especially one so small, so we tried to introduce them slowly. That lasted about a minute. Ajax whined and whined and wagged his tail until he got to meet his new pal. They were instant best buddies, and they've been friends ever since (except when Cooper's too wound up and won't leave him alone).
