Goodbye to Friends

I'm sad to have to use my first message in a while to say goodbye to two of my furry friends who recently went to the shiny place in the sky with peanut butter mountains and steak streets.

First was my "cousin" Muffin. She was my mom's sister's dog, and she came to Charlotte to play with me last year. She died in an accident two weeks ago, and I will definitely miss her. She had a neat trick of picking up a toy or stck or something when my aunt Sarah would come home, so that she never greeted her mom empty "handed."

Second was my doctor's dog, Chantilly. Chantilly was nine years old and was a very brave girl despite being sick for a while. I know Dr. Fine will miss her very much.

In some good news, my other "cousin" Juke has moved back to North Carolina from Arkansas, where he was working as a professional duck hunting dog for two years. Hopefully we'll get together and play very soon.

If you haven't kissed your mom or dad yet today, I encourage all of you dogs reading this post to go show them how much you love them. Life is precious and we must all be living wonderful lives with moms and dads who love us very much if we're here chatting on Dogster!

Post-Holiday Wrap Up

Hi friends!
Long time no see. It's the post-Super Bowl doldrums around here, so I thought I'd catch you all up on how things are going. I'm really enjoying my new sister, Emma. You can see we have some new pictures up. Napping on the futon is my favorite thing in the world, and Emma is learning to respect my quiet time. She has also helped me lose the 4 pounds that I needed to lose! She loves to play chase with me in the yard, when we're not combining forces to keep the yard free of squirrels.

We had a really nice time over the holidays... dad was home on vacation a lot of days, so we didn't have to stay in our crates very much. (Yes, I'm back in my house during the day... I had an accident and lost my roaming priviliges.)

I'm enjoying this cold weather because my allergies haven't kicked in yet. I'm actually taking some fish oil on my breakfast because I've had dry skin lately. I guess I'll have to get used to different drugs for different seasons!

Once the weather warms up we'll have more adventures to report about, so stay tuned!

Cousin Zena

Hi Everybody!

I got to meet my cousin Zena yesterday. She's a doberman pincher that lives with my mom's mom. We drove about an hour and then arrived at this great yard with lots of trees and smells to sniff. Zena is a good bit bigger than me, but she can run really fast and we had a great time zipping around the yard. She lives near some horses and some other dogs, and she has lots of trees in her yard - which means she has lots of squirrels! We got to play for a couple of hours, but all that sniffing and chasing made me pretty tired. I can't hang like I used to. My sister Emma did a pretty good job of hanging in there with Zena, but she's younger and has fresher legs. It's weird, but we're having really warm weather lately and I get to spend the whole day outside, watching the squirrels and digging holes. I know the cold weather is coming soon, but I'm going to keep enjoying the sunshine as long as I can!

Cutting Back

Hi Everybody!

The first week with my new sister has gone pretty well, but she wears me out! I can't believe I was ever that active. But it's a good thing that she plays so much - I have to lose some weight! That's right, your pal Jester is a couple of pounds on the heavy side, and the new kid in the house makes it even more obvious. I was at the vet last week and I'm about 4 pounds over my ideal weight. This means I'm not getting my glob of peanut butter in the Kong toy every morning, which stinks! I love peanut butter, and I can recognize the jar when Mom opens the cabinet. I love that stuff, but I have to lay off of it for a while. Hopefully the New-Sister-No-Peanut-Butter diet will do the trick, but I'll keep you posted and let you know!

Hi Everybody! I'm a little sleepy, so please excuse any spelling mistakes today. I've been playing so hard with my NEW SISTER that I don't have much energy left. Be sure to check out her page under "my family" and see this usurper who's moved in on my futon space. She plays like me, so she's not all that bad. I'll keep you posted on how it goes with breaking her in.

Hi Everybody!

I hope you're having a fun summer like I am! The weather is cooling down, so I can spend more time in the yard hunting birds. I'm still spending every Thursday at All Wags Doggie Daycare with my friends - four and two legged varieties. It's so exhausting, but I love it!

My allergy shots are going pretty well, I guess. I'm not as itchy, and I really like the treats I get after each shot. Snausages make everything better.

This weekend my favorite non-mom-or-dad person is coming to stay with me - - Uncle Matt! He's not bringing my cousin Juke, but that's fine - more attention for me! Uncle Matt sleeps on my futon when he comes over, which is fine with me... I scoot over to leave a little room for him.

Next weekend I'm going to Asheville with my girlfriend, Sasha! You can see pictures of her in my Video Page... we love going to the mountains together. We both love new smells and new trails to walk on, plus the great car rides on those curvy roads! We'll post some pictures from that adventure when we get back to town.

I know it's hard keeping up with my busy social schedule, but I'm a pup on the move!

I don't usually have a lot of holes in me, but lately I've become a doggie pincushion! I'm getting allergy shots twice a week in hopes that I can stop being so itchy. It's too soon to tell if the shots are working yet, but I'm keeping my paws crossed. My trips to the vet are actually pretty fun - the car ride, the treats after the shot, and the 15 minute walk afterwards to be sure I don't have a reaction. Plus everyone is super nice to me after my shots! I love it! :)

Happy Birthday to Me!

Hey Everybody! Happy Birthday to me today! I'm three! I made my list of things I want for my birthday. Here goes:

1. For mom to let me play with the fish in the koi pond.
2. For dad to please let me chase the neighbor's cat without him calling me back to heel.
3. A real bunny instead of the stuffed one I have now.
4. For mom to let me guard the hamburgers when she goes outside to start the grill.
5. For dad to let me lick the ice cream bowl BEFORE he eats it instead of after.
6. No more baths.
7. My own pet squirrel. I promise I'll take good care of him!
8. To stay loose in the house during the day instead of staying in my house. I promise not to chew up the candles again!
9. A real bunny. I think this is already on the list, but I rreeeeeaaaallllly want one!
10. Whirled peas. I hear a lot about this, and I know the pretty girls on the TV shows talk about it, so it must be good. It sounds yummy.

That's all. I'm a simple dog with simple wishes.

Spring has Sprung

'Tis the season for itchy bellies at my house. That yucky yellow stuff on the trees and flowers has my eyes watering and my belly itching. Mom and dad had to take me to the vet to get tested for my allergies, and in a few weeks I'll have to start taking allergy shots! I don't know what that means, but if it involves as many cookies as eye drops, ear drops, and allergy pills, I'm all for it! The worst part of allergies right now is a special shampoo I have to be bathed in every three days. I now hate the sound of running water, and I run behind my futon when it's bath time. At least I get some cookies while I'm in the tub, so it's not so bad once they finally catch me and get me sudsy. I'll let you all know exactly what I'm allergic to once my test results come back. Let's hope I'm not allergic to peanut butter or futons, because those are two things I can't live without!
