Yesterday while surfing, I came across this hilariously cute doggie video. :)) :)) :))

I bowled over laughing, and I watched it over and over again. We all went crazy here! We dogs can be so funny sometimes.

Mom sure picked a great day to go online on Dogster and help me update my diary. She received an e-mail today, and it read:

"Dogster wanted you to know that Teriyaki is one of today's featured diaries and it
will be displayed all day on our Diary Central page..."

Whooppeeeeeee!!! I LURVE bein' a dawg. I LURVE bein' on Dogster. And I LURVE bein' a Dogsterholic. :)

Hugs and licks to all,

Oh, Goody! I Have Computer Time!

An avid Dogster's worst nightmare is NOT being able to get on the computer to check out what's going on at this wonderful site.

Humans have a thing about their so-called duties and responsibilities on the job. If only Mom can quit her job AND still keep the cupboard well stocked with dog food and treats, I'd be perfectly, perfectly happy. Unfortunately, that's not how things go in the human world. Thank goodness for this Veterans Day weekend; Mom devoted her entire day to me and my housemate Chewbie, stopping only for her own meal breaks. Oh, and she did stop and look in the mirror a lot of times. She can be such a vanity case when she gets time off from work, which isn't often. I don't quite understand her worries about some new gray hairs and a new wrinkle she just noticed today. Humans. Sheesh!

Anyhoo, Mom went to the neighborhood meat shop, and the nice old butcher man there gave her some slices of liver and scrap meat "For your dogs." WOOF! WOOF! Thanks, Mr. Butcher Man! Life is good! I don't want to be anything else BUT a DOG. :)

Things We Can Learn From A Dog --Practical Dog Wisdom

I found this poem while surfing. It is so full of practical wisdom, I just need to share it. :)

Things We Can Learn From A Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride.
Allow the experience of fresh air &
the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps & stretch before rising.
Run, romp & play daily.
Eat with gusto & enthusiasm.
Be Loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent,
sit close by & nuzzle them gently.
Thrive on attention & let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water & lay under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around & wag your entire body.
No matter how often you're scolded,
don't buy into the guilt thing & pout...
run right back & make friends.
Bond with your pack.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

A Day Without Dogster

It was the most excruciating 24 hours of my young life.

Yesterday, Mom hogged the computer for an entire day as there were deadlines to beat. She had absolutely NO time to click the Dogster link under "Favorites." I knew she wanted to, but she never did. Duty beckons.

I was already jumping for joy as she was uploading her reports, but as soon as she was done, the DSL connection went pfffffffffffffffffttt! Dang it! What else can go wrong?

We tried to wait for almost an hour to see if the DSL would kick back to life, but it stayed dead. Finally it was close to dinnertime, and I had to give up all hopes of logging on Dogster for the rest of the evening.

Before signing up with Dogster, I lived in ignorant bliss. Now that I am already a member of Dogster, not being able to log on is tantamount to incarceration with torture. It's confirmed--I got bitten real bad by the Dogster bug. :))

Mom's Dog Sitting Again!

Oh yeah. Dog sitting is Mom's second job.
Our neighbor had to leave for an errand for just a few hours, and she was afraid that Spanky, her pug, might get in deep trouble when left on his own.
Mom happened to be conveniently "jobless" this afternoon, and Spanky was promptly sent over. Play time! Whooooppeeee!!!

Spanky always makes the funniest sound that he claims to be a bark. And with all that snorting and gasping, I was afraid that little guy might just pass out from lack of oxygen. I mean, how can you breathe properly with such a short snout, right? BOL! :p That did stop me from running circles around him, literally. He seemed to enjoy it anyway.

After about 15 minutes of running about, Spanky finally decided that he has had enough exercise for the day and plopped down at Mom's feet. He was promptly picked up to sleep on Mom's lap, much to Chewbie's consternation. You know Chewbie. He has issues about other dogs making themselves comfortable on Mom's lap. I didn't mind all that much and just played Assistant Lap Dog--I laid my front paws and I planted my snout upon Mom's knees for a while.

Mom, can we keep Spanky? Guess not, because the neighbor came back to collect Spanky after a couple of hours. Sayonara, Spanky...until your next visit.

Today, I became pet pals with Abby, a beautiful brindled greyhound with a heart of gold. She has a wonderful video in her diary to share. I have watched the video myself. More than 10 times, in fact. Thanks, Abby! :))

The video was made by Gail Gallant. If you are a dog lover, please watch it. If you know somebody who has little respect for dogs, please share this video with them. It's an eye-opener, I promise you. Please read the ending of the video even if it means having to press the pause and rewind tabs.

Google Video:

Please send me a pawmail if you've watched the video, and please put an entry in your diary about the video so that it will reach more Dogster pups and their family and friends.

Hugs and licks,

Bath Time!

Awww...Mom! Must I really?

*groan*

Ok, ok. So the big typhoon left us without electricity for a couple of days, and after that it was too cold/rainy to take a bath. I was already enjoying a fews days of bathless bliss and a lot of brushing by Mom.

But this morning, the sun had to poke its head out between the clouds. I saw Mom reached into the Grooming Monster's mouth (actually a white basket containing all my grooming needs) and pulled out the bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Oh NOOOOOOOO!!! It's bath time! :((

I ran as fast as I could and hid under the aquarium, but it was too late. Mom spotted me. "Come, Teri!" She called out with such happiness. I sulkingly dragged my paws and pulled myself out of my hiding place.

Oh well. It wasn't so bad. On bath days, Mom always leaves a large container of water out in the sun until it is warm enough. VOILA! Instant warm water. Energy saving too! GENIUS! Love you, Mom. :)

What I love is the after-bath treatment. I get to sit on Mom's lap, all 16 kg of me, while she dries my fur. A full-body massage always follows, plus some good brushing. I smell GREAT!!! I look FANTABULOUS!!!

Thanks, Mom. :)

Lots of love,
Teriyaki

Happy Birthday, Kumareng Tinkay!

Since I joined Dogster on September 26, I've been continually blessed by the daily arrival of pup pals from all over the world. A recent arrival to my circle of pup pals is Tinkay who became my Kumare on day 1 of our palship. In case you haven't noticed we kinda sport the same colored coat! :)

Tinkay's bio is a testament to the love between humans and canines. At age 1 month, she was about to be left out on the streets when two earth angels came along and granted her a new lease on life. Her arrival story was much sadder than mine. At least I got to stay with my biological mom until I was over two months old! Poor Tinkay indeed! How else can such a young, helpless pup survive if it were not for her loving adoptive parents?

Now four years young, Tinkay celebrates another milestone in her life as she takes on the role of proud parent to five beautiful pups. If you think Tinkay got lucky with her parents, then her pups must be super-extra lucky for having such fantastic grandparents. These humans certainly know what a dog wants and needs. They genuinely love their dogs. We can all be sure that Tinkay's pups will live happy lives in the company of a loving doggie mom and doting human grandparents.

To Tinkay, my Kumare...Happy, Happy Birthday! May you continue to celebrate life to the fullest in the company of your family! :)

Love and licks,

Teriyaki

We Deserve Better

Brainstorming! That was what Mom, Chewbie and I did after a very interesting exchange of paw mails with our new friend, Lucca. Believe me if I say that Lucca is one nice chap. I have a crush on him. tee..hee...heee! He has a wonderful Mom too, and they are both getting deeply involved in animal welfare.

So here I am, all fired up and ranting again. I posted a message at the "All Pets from the Philippines" message board:

"Ok, so I'm relatively new here. And this very message may cause some of you to hate me. BUT, I feel that I need to put this down in writing."

"I have visited a number of my co-members' pages. I see many fellow dogs in responsible and loving homes, but and I can't help but notice a significant number of undernourished canines who looked like they had gone through hell and back. One even bragged of having new pups, *pero NAMAN! Have pity on the poor dog-mom. Her ribs are showing through!"

"Here is what I want to say...Please treat us right! Like any other living thing, a dog has a right to healthy food, freedom from unreasonable chaining and caging (we need exercise), and respect from our humans."

"If you can't treat us right (maybe we are eating a hole into your respective family budget or taking too much of your precious human time), then please send us to loving homes where we don't have to be starved, chained, ignored or maltreated in any way."

"Look, I am speaking from experience here. I KNOW how it feels to be unwanted. Been there; done that. My biological mom is a champ line beagle --very, very, very impressive pedigree said my human. She was and still has been alternately chained or caged. Last I heard, she is waiting in line for stud service. I don't want my biological mom and her ilk to go through the entire episode of having pups just to satisfy the financial wants of the irresponsible breeder-owners. Worse, if a purebred dog ends up with half-breeds like me, there will be even more unwanted and matreated pups in this country."

"We are supposed to be Man's Best Friends. We deserve better, don't we?"

There goes my popularity. :-(
All for a good cause. :-)

Love and doggie kisses,
Teriyaki

*pero NAMAN!--Loosely translated as "but for goodness' sake!"
