Arrival Story: On Saturday we drove to Caliente, CA to go pick up our new puppy. I was so happy to see her on the farm with all her family members, including her parents, her grandparents and a few uncle and aunts. She seemed like a Happy-Go-Lucky puppy who had a smile on her face and a skip in her step. I kept calling it a HE even though it was a SHE.
Here she is playing with her Grandma's tail.
This is Debbie. She's a mini horse breeder.
She was raised in Japan. She is a very sweet lady. I asked what brought her to Caliente, CA and she said it's the only place she could afford. It's a very small town and it seems like everyone there is a rancher of some sorts.
My puppy was lying down in the mud when it was time for us to go. We wrapped her into a towel like a burritos and robbed her from the only family she ever knew.
I didn't care. All I cared about was I got my puppy. I love our new doggie.
Did you know that puppies don't automatically know how to walk on a leash? I found this out when we took her outside to go pee pee. She just stood there and wouldn't move. When I would take a step she would just put out her big paws out as brakes. You practically had to drag her. For the rest of the weekend we had to pick her up like a baby if we wanted her to follow us.
She lay in the front passenger area on the way home. She was foaming at the mouth. I forgot when but she also threw up because the road was so curvy and we made her car sick.
We gave her a bath when we got home. She such a good dog. She didn't mind the bath. She seemed like she was potty trained already, she didn't pee pee or poo poo in the house.
On Sunday we nearly killed our new puppy because we didn’t want to leave her home alone. So we took her to Rose Hills to visit Sean’s Dad and then to Home Depot to buy some chicken wire for her new home.
This the chicken wire Sean, Derrick and Scott put up. It looks really nice. Will also lighted some OFF bug candles for her. Scott is afraid that we will start treating the dog better than we treat him. He's jealous of the dog but he'll get over it.
She was exhausted and didn't move for most of the day. I felt really bad. I was a bad parent. She was a lot better this morning.
She was happy and smiling.
I told Sean that I didn't think it was a good idea to drag our dog around town. We're going to wait until she has all her shot before we do.
My puppy always looks very serious, she's all business. I've never seen a more serious looking dog.
We still haven't named our dog because we can't agree on a name. We thought of some other names such as Chewbacca, Freckles, Mochi, or Munchkin.

I love my dog. And when I went into Old Navy yesterday I couldn't resist buying her some new clothes. Sean said he didn't want me dressing up the dog like a child, but I just can't help myself. Mochi is 50 pounds now. Pretty soon she won't be able to fit into the Old Navy Large. I have to take advantage of the short time where I can still dress her up.
We were planning to take Mochi to Mammoth this weekend but she sprained her left front paw on Monday. The vet said she needs a week's of rest. We've decided to delay the trip for a week. In the mean while, Sean broke down and bought Mochi her tent. Initially he wasn't going to get her the tent, but I guess in the end....he couldn't resist either.
We threw in some treats to get her to go inside. It took some coaxing but she eventually went in. I hope when we're out in the wilderness she'll actually use the tent.
Mochi grew out of her little puppy bowls, so we had to get her a new bowls. Sean said he was going to build her a stand, but he hasn't got around to doing it. So for now, we are using this stool. I love how her orange jacket matches her bowl and tent.
Mochi is much too heavy to carry these days. I tried picking her up to see what it would look like. I'm smiling but I'm really in pain and wishing Sean would hurry up and take the shot before Mochi breaks my back.
Every night before I go to bed I think to myself how nice it is to have a little family.

Mochi is not the world's most beautiful dog. But it's ok....I've always told myself that I don't want my kids to be too cute when they are young. I want little nerds running around my house. Little nerds do not attract as much attention as adorable little children. Sean on the other hand said that if his kids aren't cute he's going to give them up for adoption. So I don't know what's going to happen when we actually do have kids.
Mochi is 12 weeks now. When we first got her she weighed 13 pounds. Now she weighs 29 pounds. She's more than doubled her weight. It's getting hard to carry her around. We've taught her the basics of sitting, laying down, waiting, staying, heeling and going pee pee and poo poo where she's supposed to. Her black coloring has slowly faded to light brown. She's really a cute dog. She's likes to chew on people but we're in the process of correcting that problem. She hates riding in cars. She has anxiety every time we walk towards the car. Once she's in the car she starts to salivate like a ravaged dog.
