Arrival Story: A local breeder had three 8 week old puppies left. While waiting for the husband to bring the puppies in from the kennel, I played with the mama and daddy dog! The daddy was quite the energetic yapper and was bringing me every toy in the house! The mama dog was so gentle and tender! She jumped up on the couch where I was sitting and curled her body right next to me as she laid her head right in my lap! Soooooooo calm and easy going!
When the husband walked in with the puppies, it was love at first sight as I instantly spotted Cali! She seemed to have that quiet personality like her mama, while her siblings were scampering all about like their daddy! Guess what? Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cali has grown up and shown me through the years that she is a genuine mix of her mama and daddy! She is quick as a wink in her responses, relentless barker when she persues something and rises with the sun! Yet, like her mama, she loves a puppy and transforms to the patient nanny when around one! She just seems to know the times when to be gentle & quiet and she moves her body quietly during those times!
Bio: Cali is exceptionally intelligent and has a very keen sniffer!
She loves to find money (bills only!) and bring it to my attention! Cali has found money hidden under, on top of and inside things (like my pocketbook!) Never messes with paper, just money!!!!
Though she has some declining vision and hearing, Cali has the energy of a puppy! (Probably has alot to do with "throwing" her back/neck out at times from all of the jumping around! ) With doggie steps in every room and a trundle/ day bed in her playroom, Cali still manages to scale any surface ! She loves sitting on her windowbox, watching the neighborhood dogs take their daily walks and she always gives them her "What's up?" bark!
***********UPDATE: CALI IS NOW COMPLETELY DEAF. EVEN SO, SHE ROLLS WITH THE PUNCHES AND GETS ALONG JUST FINE WATCHING FOR HAND SIGNS!***********

Hi, everfur! I just wanted to take a minute to let all my pals know that I am continuing to feel like my old self again with each passing day!, Particularly since the vet has weaned me OFF the valium, I am much stronger in my legs and walking! (Mom says I got my "poodle perkiness" back!) And from what mom can tell, the "Vestibular Disease" seems to have run its course , so I'm no longer acting dizzy or fuzzy! Hooray!!!! Mom says that if things keep getting better, then this weekend will be a great time to sit down and thank everyone for all of their powerful support and kindness! You really feel the love of friends when things are tuff!
It has been almost a week now since that nasty, old seizure monster grabbed me in the middle of the night ! So far, he's been chased away by medicine and we hope he stays away! The big problem for me now is , between the medicine and the suspected "Vestibular" disease," I can't walk real good and I have to take things slow, so I won't bump into everything! (You know, I'm not one for "slow"!) I can step up a few inches, but no jumps at all!( Grrrrrrr...) Mom has turned our home into "Camp Cushion!" Rooms blocked off, furniture bottoms covered,.....all with cushions ! I told her it looks like we're setting up for bumper car rides! She also has non-slip rugs covering all bare floors that I walk on so I don't fall down when I'm turning around! Must say, they really help!
*Cali yawns* Guess I'll go catch my mid -morning nap! Please, keep your paws crossed for me that I will keep winning this battle!
*Cali blows kisses to all of her concerned pals!*
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm feeling better this evening. Mom finally smiled when I was able to walk to my "tinkle pads" and squat all by myself! Even though I'm kinda wobbly, I am able to rise and walk (particularly fast if you show me food!)
Going to bed soon, so I just wanted to share the good news here! I know that the "Blanket of Prayers" from all my pals here will cover me tonight so no more nasty seizures!
*Cali blows "Thank-You" kisses to everyone!
