Birthday: March 15th 1992 Likes: puppies, stroller rides, eating Pet-Peeves: rough housing, sleeping past 5:30am, Favorite Toy: scrubber, paper money (when she can find it!) Favorite Food: Natural Balance Sweet Potato-Fish kibble and treats, Sam's Yams, green beans, carrots, yogurt Favorite Walk: neighborhood tours in her doggie stroller, doggie park Best Tricks: sign language! Cali has learned SEE signs to keep up with things going on around her! Just try signing "cookie" or "eat" around her!!! Arrival Story: A local breeder had three 8 week old puppies left. While waiting for the husband to bring the puppies in from the kennel, I played with the mama and daddy dog! The daddy was quite the energetic yapper and was bringing me every toy in the house! The mama dog was so gentle and tender! She jumped up on the couch where I was sitting and curled her body right next to me as she laid her head right in my lap! Soooooooo calm and easy going!
When the husband walked in with the puppies, it was love at first sight as I instantly spotted Cali! She seemed to have that quiet personality like her mama, while her siblings were scampering all about like their daddy! Guess what? Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cali has grown up and shown me through the years that she is a genuine mix of her mama and daddy! She is quick as a wink in her responses, relentless barker when she persues something and rises with the sun! Yet, like her mama, she loves a puppy and transforms to the patient nanny when around one! She just seems to know the times when to be gentle & quiet and she moves her body quietly during those times! Bio: Cali is exceptionally intelligent and has a very keen sniffer!
She loves to find money (bills only!) and bring it to my attention! Cali has found money hidden under, on top of and inside things (like my pocketbook!) Never messes with paper, just money!!!!
Though she has some declining vision and hearing, Cali has the energy of a puppy! (Probably has alot to do with "throwing" her back/neck out at times from all of the jumping around! ) With doggie steps in every room and a trundle/ day bed in her playroom, Cali still manages to scale any surface ! She loves sitting on her windowbox, watching the neighborhood dogs take their daily walks and she always gives them her "What's up?" bark!
***********UPDATE: CALI IS NOW COMPLETELY DEAF. EVEN SO, SHE ROLLS WITH THE PUNCHES AND GETS ALONG JUST FINE WATCHING FOR HAND SIGNS!*********** Forums Motto: Honeypot Redemption Piece!
Today, I took Ruby to the Blessing of the Animals. It was a beautiful day! As we walked around, I knew you were with us! Cali, mama loves you so! Time will never fade my love , nor will it ever erase the wonderful memories that I have of you! You are one of a kind, Cali! Forever, my Honeypot Redemption Piece!
From mom to Cali:
Cali, when you left me one year ago, I had to shut down in order to process what was taking place. My world went into safe mode and every minute of every day had to be readjusted to not having you by my side. As time and tears drained the sadness from my soul, the happy memories began to return. Talking about you became easier and once again I could watch your videos and smile. Finally, I felt peace that you were happy, healthy and only a whisper away!
Cali, I know now, that you watch over me and your baby sister, Ruby! I feel safe and secure knowing that we are forever connected and that we will one day be together again!
Cali, I love you! You are mama’s “Honeypot Redemption Piece!”
forever love Sweetie!
I'm not sure about your mom, but I know that sometimes MY mom can be a very hard one to convince! You see, she has really has been missing me since I left for the bridge a couple of months ago. I've tried to dry her tears by whispering in her ear, "Smile , mama! I'm feeling great and I'm around so many wonderful pals! I'm fine here, really I AM!" But despite all I tried to tell her, I saw mama crying for me everyday.
About a month ago, I finally convinced mama that it was time for her to start looking for a little one to share her life with once again. Thank-goodness she listened! After many weeks of e-mails, photos, phone calls, visits and WAITING, it looks like I'm gonna be a big sister to a sweet little red poodle girl! She is only 3 weeks old and we've named her "Ruby Mae O'livia." ( I've put a picture of her on my page for everyone to see! Not much to look at now, but I'll help her fit into her poodle personality in no time!)
Please, be happy for my mom! When she is happy, I am happy! Mom and I will always be a pair and I will be right there helping mom with this new little one!
(Believe me, she's gonna need all the help she can get cuz' it's been a L-O-N-G time since she had a baby in the house! LOL!!)
I'll let everyone know when Ruby arrives! She should be here around June 1st!
Stay tuned...........
