Arrival Story:
We had decided against getting a Jack Russell Terrier after we found out about their hyperactive/high-maintenance temperaments. Then we saw a puppy listing on the internet and decided to go just to take a look. But as soon as we saw him, we suffered from temporary amnesia - forgotting everything we had learned about this breed - and we had to bring him home. How can we resist when he just snuggled right up to us as soon as we met him. And the rest is history.... (After we got Kona, we realized that Kona came to our lives on the memorial day of our other dog, DJ (1986-2001, Bichon Frise), whom I grew up with and still is in my heart (and will be forever...). We think that DJ sent Kona to us cuz we needed a new pup to love. )

Bio:
Kona lives in San Francisco & Los Angeles. Like many other dogs, especially Jack Russells, he is Mr. Jekyll & Hyde, either on or off. But so much fun to hang out with. He is friendly to most people and animals. Also, to be true to his breed, he seems to have type A personality, always trying to be the alpha dog. He gets lots of attention from strangers on the street. We think that's why he prances when he walks. Because he is such as big part of our lives and he gets to be involved with almost everything we do, we think that he thinks he's a human. What a silly dog!

Trip Along the Pacific Coast

What fun!!!!
Whole last week was a blast for me and my family.
We packed our bags and our camping gears and took off driving up the west coast.
Here's what we did:

1) Camping at the Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. Beautiful park. Rain poured on us at night. But our tent kept us dry. Didn't get to see too much of the beautiful lake because of the fog.

2) Visit to Portland. It's a nice little city with nice people. We walked all over the place. I even took a sneak ride in the bus. :) Most boring part was when my humans went shopping cuz they don't charge you sales tax here. I couldn't find any pet store nearby so no shopping for me. :(

3) Visit to Seattle. Saw the Spaceneedle, went to Pike Place Market (where I freaked out cuz of so many people), walked all along the waterfront. Downside: had to stay at the hotel when my humans wanted to do a little underground tour. They left the suitcase open so I slept in it. Something about their scent keeps my nerves calm in strange places.

4) Rode a ferry across the Puget Sound over to Bainbridge Island. Then we drove over to the Olympic National Park and camped in the rainforest. Lots of fun. Lots of trees stumps & mossy logs to climb. Lots of sniffing about. Lots of mosquitos. Beautiful.

I'm collecting travel stickers of places I've visited for my big kennel at home. I hope I can cover it with lots of stickers.

Now is the time to rest and recover. Yawn......

An update...

what i've done since last time i wrote:

* i spent the holidays in los angeles, home of my cousin Tomie, because my humans went on a vacation to europe and couldn't take me. i was very upset and sad when they left me there. but i adjusted quickly and became friends with the rest of the family. i rather enjoyed staying there. unlike my home in san francisco, it's quieter, has lots of sun, there's a backyard for me to run around, and there was always someone home so i didn't have to be locked up!

* i get very frustrated when i'm locked up in one area of the apartment during the day. i got so mad that i chewed up the closet doors, the baby gate, and even the wall. i've basically ruined a whole corner of the apartment since i came to live in my home (sorry guys!).

* because i just sleep all day long while my humans are at work, and what i do when i'm not sleeping is so bad (see above), my humans decided not to lock me up any more! i get the whole apartment to myself. so i've been enjoying sleeping in the big bed all day long. but one time i had to go to the bathroom really bad and i couldn't get off the bed for reason, so i just went on the bed (sorry again guys). we had to do lots of laundry that night. so now i only get the living room to myself during the day.
but that's still good. i get to sleep all day on the couch and that's still better than being locked up...

* i have two best friends (nibbler, a beagle & aska, what breed?). i love running around with them every night. i like my best friends alot. when i have go home after we play, nibbler cries because i have to leave. so i have to look back at him and let him know that we'll play again soon... what a pal!

Graduation Day

Today I'm graduating from dog training class. Yay!
All ten of us in the class passed this course. They say that I probably will win the award for "most improved". That's becuz I was very distracted by my classmates during the first few weeks and had to be behind a barricade. I was a bit embarrassed. I'd say that is equivalent to standing in a corner if I were a human going to school.
But I managed to be more attentive and is now a fine student. If not THE finest in class. :)

I asked to be bathed last night, so I'd be all cute and handsome for the graduation. I hope we take a class photo. Most likely, I'll never see my classmates again since we live in different neighborhoods. I'll miss them. But now I have so many other friends who live within my apartment complex!

I went to Crissy Field yesterday. The weather was perfect. I played with all the big dogs that were crazy about retrieving the ball from the ocean.
I even almost went for a swim too. But I don't think I can swim well yet.
I just love love love going to the beach.
(another reason why I love it is cuz I get a nice bath after running around and digging in the sand. :P

Congratulations to me for a job well done in completing my academics. With an A+++++++ too. :)
