My super-awesome girlfriend agreed to buy me a friend for Christmas. After over a month of internet research, I settled on a breeder in the far western suburbs of Minneapolis. I went to the breeder to see his sister and then this cute little pup of only 4 weeks got my attention. As I walked over to the little kiddie pool filled with shredded newspaper, this little guy got right up to the front of the pack and stop up as tall as he could against the barrier. I immediately knew that he was the one for me. He was so fearless and wanting to show affection I forgot all about his sister. He was so small, he fit right onto the palm of my hand, and when I held him against my chest, he couldn't stop licking me. I had to leave him with his litter-mates until he was old enough, but I couldn't wait to bring him home.
I spent the week before I was to pick Toby up at my girlfriend Jess's home in Denver. The las night before I left, I decided that I would drive to Minneapolis to get Toby the next day rather than stopping at home in Des Moines first. I drove over 1000 miles that next day, but it has been worth it 100-fold with each passing day.
