Arrival Story:
I was planning on moving out of my parents home, but did not want to go alone. I was looking in the newspaper one day and happened to see an advertisement for Austrailian Shepherd puppies. I had heard such wonderful things about the breed, and they are such pretty dogs. I went straight over, and Richie's playfullness just drew me to him. He was the biggest one there, and now he is a full grown 72 lbs! I love him more than words can express, and he is my baby, my first born! My baby boy!

Richie - All Grown Up

Richie and his trip to the doctor

Richie absolutely LOVES going for walks! One morning Mommy put the leash on and he was ready to go for a walk. Only, Mommy had tricked him. She scooped him up in the car and off to the vet we went. When we got there, the doctor loved all over him telling how much of a good dog he was and how big he had gotten. Then, Mommy got fussed at for feeding her little boy WAY too much - Richie was five pounds over weight - for shame Mommy. Now Richie had to have a walk a day for at least thirty to forty five minutes and he was only allowed to eat at certain times of the day, whichwas a rule Mommy never had before. Now Richie is in good shape and seems happier to be fit and trim - back to his younger years of being healthy.

Richie is all grown up!

Richie is now over a year old and such a wonderful dog! He has gotten over being so protective, and is now the only one out of three that likes to let children pet him. He has such a beautiful coat, but unfortunately he lives in Houston, so we have to shave him down for the summer so he isn't so miserable outside. He is spoiled rotten and knows it. Now that he is somewhat over his puppy stage, he isn't so clumsy and loves to go for walks. We took him hiking over at Sam Houston National Park and spent about 4 1/2 hours out there. Once we got him home, he was still in the mood to run and play - guess that goes with the breed. I'm moving out soon, and he will unfortunately be having to leave the other two behind. Makes me sad, but he will have a friend when I move. My boyfriend has a shiperke mix and they get along great!

Richie's troublesome ways

Richie is all grown up, and is so great to have around. The one thing that is so unfortunate about him is his protectiveness for me. He was so aggressive to be around others that I had to kennel him everytime we had guests. He now has a permanent grudge for my best friend, but has really improved ever since he's been getting regular walks and tons of play time. He loves to be outside and play. I love Richie, and think the world of him, and hope he will overcome his agressive tendancies towards my best friend - she's such a nice person, and he's such a great dog!
