The Spirit of a German Shepherd

I was standing on a hillside, in a field of blowing wheat
And the spirit of a German Shepherd Dog was lying at my fee.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes, ancient wisdom shining through
His mind did lock upon my heart as I stood there on that day
And he told me of this story about a place so far away.
His tale did put my heart at ease, my fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me on another distant day
"I live amoung God's creatures now in the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me, my friend, for I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue, my leash a shooting star.
My boundaries are the Milky Way where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennls here and I am not confined,
But free to roam God's heavens among my Shepherd kind.
I nap the day on a snowy cloud, gentle breezes rocking me
And dream the dreams of Earthlings and how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats and tennis balls abound
And Milkbones line the walkways just waiting to be found.
There even is a ring set up ~ the grass all lush and green
And everyone who gaits around becomes the Best of Breed.
For we're all winners in this place, we have no faults, you see
And God passes out those ribbons to each one, even me.
I drink from waters laced with gold my world a beauty to behold
And wis old dogs do form my pride to amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in an angel's arms, her wings protecting me
And moonbeams dance about us as stardust falls on thee.
So when your life on earth is spent, and you stand at Heaven's gate
Have no fear of loneliness, for here, you know I wait.

I Love You! Thank You!

This is from Tammy, the human mommy to these rug rats of mine and those beautiful angels in heaven.

I was working on my new group, "Pirates Cove" when there was a "beep beep" outside. It was the fed ex man with a large brown package for me. I signed for it, then off he went.

I brought it in the house, let the pups out, then proceeded to open the package, that was very nicely secured!

Out comes this big book type binder, tied with ribbon of sorts, with an envelope seperate, also. I untie the string, then open the book. It's a scrap book, of which I've never seen. It's beautiful. So I start at page one...and find pages and pages of beautiful poetry, photos, momentos, decorations of satin, ribbons, flowers; you name it, its in there...from many, many fellow Dogster Families! So I'm reading, and the tears start to fall! And so, here I am, still crying...and I can't begin to tell you just how overwhelmed with love I feel! So many cards and letters have come to me, since Dutchess passed away. I've not had the money, nor much time to respond in kind, but you must know that each is saved in a special place...with my love and sincere appreciation.

This scrap book is the most beautiful, loving, thoughful gift I have ever received in my life! No lie! I've had many gifts in my time, but non as thoughful and sincere, as this beautiful scrapbook! How can I ever thank you each of you? Know in my heart, through these tears, that I hug each of you! Words will never express what lies in these pages, will be cherished for the rest of my days on earth.

God Bless You! Thank you for caring enough to send sunshine into my days! For each time that I miss my girl, I will have your words, your pages full of love, to see me through.

We Love Dad 07~Photo contest Reminder!

Father's Day is June 17, 2007! So you all know what that means...Time for the Second Annual "We Love Dad" 07 photo contest!

This is opened to all Dogsters & Catsters (though we need a Catster Host/Hostess to post & gather prizes for the Kittys. If interested, please send pmail).

You may start posting your photos now through June 17th. Winners will be posted soon after.

Rules

1. Photographs only! No photoshop, animations, etc. will be considered. There are always other contests for those kind of entries, for you to enjoy.

2. Only (1) entry per dog/cat. So make it count! Photograph must include pet/dad. If you don't have a dad, you may use a brother, uncle or grandfather. Just remember it's Father's Day!

3. Entries must be posted before 11:59 pm June 17th (MST).

4. Winners will be announced between June 18-20.

1. Described as Beautiful by my mommy

2. I adore Dale Bo, and give him angel kisses daily.

3. I've been re-incarnated as a butterfly, so I can visit mommy & my pack.

4. I didn't like to swim, but if mommy would go in the water, so would I! That's the only way I'd go. Gunner tried to get me in the water, but only mommy could get me to swim! I loved her so much and trusted her.

5. I loved going with mommy for rides.

6. I enjoyed going for walks with mommy. I would never leave her side. If I did, it was a short distance and I always ran back to check on her.

7. I enjoyed watching the goats with mommy. I never ever tried to hurt them, or the kittys. I was a very good girl!!
