Midnight Sky II

So my pops is barking all about the midnight sky tonight and how pretty it is. Give me a break! I didn't notice a thing! Running full speed in circles and sniffing out the pine trees is what a dog is supposed to do. Not bark "how beautiful the sky is"...Oh Dog! Pops is getting too sentimental in his old age..BoL! I did have fun on our midnight excursion. I chased pops around a bit, went hoppin' over the tumbleweeds like a jack rabbit and ate lots of snow balls! I love icicles and chomping snow. Mommy makes me snow balls thren throws them, I chase them and eat them (sometimes). I know I didn't look at the "Sky" once! My nose sticks to the ground and off I go. I may run my tail off, but never you fear, pops nor I leave mom alone for more then a minute, if that. We never leave her in the dust, for we keep guard over her pretty well. She says she enjoys that!! Makes her feel safe. I know my fur momma was the same way. She never went far without running back to check on our human mommy. When we got back to the house, I commenced to trying to play "sneak" up on the cats. Mommy doesn't like me to stalk the cats, so I had to lay down and behave. Hence new main photo. I listen pretty well to her! "Pops, you can keep your midnight sky, just give me cats to stalk!" BoL "Wuvs you Mom!" hence 2nd new photo, giving kisses to mommy. See, I'm a good boy!

♥ Play Date! ♥

Yesterday, October 28, 2007, I got to go on a playdate with my little brother, Jasper! He is soooooooo cute!! Mommy took me to the lake so that I could meet up with Jasp & his pawrents for a walk, run, swimfest! We did all of those things while being so good with each other.

I haven't seen Jasper since he left our home as a puppy, so this was great fun and so exciting. He's really a big boy & such a sweetheart. He loves the water! He took me by the paw and we jumped in the lake together. Was a bit chilly, but I don't think either one of us cared at all.

We got all kind of sniffs...I had the most fun and am looking forward to doing that again, soon! All of the pawrents were a bit nervous at first, me thinks, but hey, it went off without a hitch!! Brothers should play together!! BoL!!! Mommy is very proud of me!!! I was even nice to the pawrents, even though I never really met them before. No biggy!! I'm a good boy, just like my fur mommy, Dutchess. Jasper looks alot like Gunner, but he definately has our fur mommys disposition. Friendly ... and playful...okay, so we bombed on the *fetch* game, but it's because we just wanted to play!! Besides, sticks look funny floating in the lake..BoL!!

ps. after the play date, mommy took me for ice cream. it just so happened that mommy's boss pulled up beside our car...so I had to show off! mommy was trying to get out of the car, but I wouldn't let her go alone. I was being naughty and wouldn't stay! BoL!! mommy's boss was laughing at me...but, she tried to help by calling out my name to get my attention. finally, after 10 minutes, I decided if I want ice cream, I better listen. so like a good boy, I stayed put and mommy went in the store. when she came back, I had my own dish of ice cream! it was so yummy...sowwy mommy that I was being naughty for a bit! at least I gave the *boss* a laugh for da day!! hehehehehe

What Makes a Tail Wag

Back in July of Two Thousand and Six,
My mommy lay quietly giving birth to me.
She licked me clean as I gave out a cry,
Making sure the embilical cord was free.

With no vision to see her beautiful face,
I followed the sound of her heartbeat.
I sniffed my way to her breast for a taste,
Much needed nutrition, warm and sweet.

As the days passed by, she nutured me,
Giving the utmost attention and care.
Then my eyes opened to a big new world,
Yet I was not afraid, for she was there.

Learning to walk was wobbly at first,
A few steps here, then a stumble there.
Always her eyes kept watch upon me,
Nothing got by her, she was keenly aware.

Mommy taught me everything I know,
From the very first day I was born.
I'm the dog that I am because of her,
No day passes by that I don't mourn.

God took her to heaven way to young,
How was I supposed to be prepared?
The sun came up on that beautiful day,
Then the rains came and I was scared!

I watched as she was being walked away,
It was the first time we've been apart.
Fur daddy said that it would be okay,
However, we all suffered a broken heart!

We slept for days for something was wrong,
Mommy wasn't here to play anymore.
Her voice didn't echoe through the house,
What once was five was dwindle to four.

There was no greater love then her love.
You ask, "What makes a tail wag?".
Dutchess! For what she gave me was life.
I am her son, so I can not help but brag!

Her spirit lives inside of my body and soul.
The sweet smell of her scent still lingers here.
I am my mother's shadow, as she is mine.
Those memories of her will never disappear.
