Shaking paws; rolling over; poking my head under the shower curtain to imitate a peeping tom; my balance beam routine on the back of Grandma's sofa; goat herding (goat aggravating)

Arrival Story:
For reasons I don't know (and for some I would never admit to) near my first birthday, my original family wanted a different dog and planned to take me to the shelter. My new Mom heard about me from her friend. I know my new Mom was taken with me the moment she met me. It's impossible not to love a good looking, lovebug like myself.

Bio:
I am solid black, weigh 14 lbs and have longer legs than those of an average dachshund. My former owner's vet labeled me as a dachshund/terrier mix, however the DNA test reports I am mixture of dachshund and miniature poodle. Strangers confuse me with a lab puppy and ask Mom how big I'll be. I love playing with my toys, chewing bones, playing with other dogs and of course lots of attention. When I first visited Grandma, I ran super fast through her house and she called me "Rocket". When my curiosity gets me into trouble...she calls me "Turkey".

It's back! I love the snow. I've waited for months to run in it, sniff it, melt it and chase snowballs. This time, Mom didn't waste her time shoveling a path in the grass for me. Last time, I ran right past it. It won't be here for long. I'm wishing for more snow.


A purpose for me

Mom recently found a purpose for me and possibly a new job for me. On Memorial Day, my Grandma broke her leg and is recovering in a skilled nursing facility. I visit her almost daily and get to hang out with Grandma on Thursday evenings when Mom volunteers at the local free clinic. Grandma calls me her therapy dog. The nurses and aides come to see me when I am visiting and other patients like to see me too. Grandma will be coming home soon and I know I will be missed. Mom is researching training I will need to be official so that I can return to visit my new friends.
