Arrival Story:
I had always wanted a dog as a kid, but both my parents were allergic. Years ago while working at OUTFEST in LA, I had fallen in love with a canine visitor in the office, she was a spunky little Cairn Terrier. She was curious about everything in HER office, just the right amount of sugar and piss & vinegar rolled into four fluffy legs. Then and there, I decided if I ever were to get a dog, it'd likely be a Cairn. Four years ago, I moved into an apartment two blocks away from Dolores Park (aka Doggie Heaven) in San Francisco. I began researching the breed, and contacted a few breeders. I really lucked out as one of the breeders who lived across the bay was just about to have a litter. After much correspondence, I came over for a visit when the pups were 6 weeks old. I nicknamed the two pups "Fluffy" & "Indy." Both were very curious and adorable. "Indy", ever the indie explorer, kept wandering around the garage and would return when her Momma Dog would corral her back. "Fluffy," the one with the puppyfat belly, plopped herself down on my lap and pretty much snuggled in for the entire visit. I like to think that "Fluffy" chose me that day. Six weeks later, at age 12 weeks, Scuttle took a drive across the Bay Bridge and has been a SF pup ever since.
