Arrival Story:
We ended up getting our puppy from a breeder and we have no regrets. I have dreamed of having a dog like her my whole life. She is a wonderfully beautiful, smart puppy who brings smiles with her everywhere she goes. A sheltie puppy has been my dream since I was only 5 years old. I am now 38 and I have a terminal cancer which I am surviving and fighting with all my might; I figured, you only live once and I better make what dreams I do have come true. I remember going to pick her up at the airport in Cargo, and waiting anxiously for her flight to arrive. I left for just a few minutes to go to the bathroom and when I came back, I noticed a crate sitting on the counter. Well it could only be my little Blue Belle in there. So I looked into the crate very excited at what I might see. I went for the peephole closest to me and saw the cutest little fluffy gray puffball puppy as she looked over at me for the first time with her little head tilted. It was the cutest thing to see and I laughed as she tilted her head the other way. I knew at that very moment that this was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. She has been wonderful for both me and my husband having to deal with this dreadful disease.

Bio:
Here is a little story of how we decided that Blue Belle would be perfect as a therapy dog. When Blue Belle was just a few weeks shy of 4 months old, we took her with us to visit with some friends and their 13 month old daughter. Crystal was just walking and still kind of wobbly on her feet; kind of like a little teeter totter. Blue Belle (she was about 12 feet away from the child) was playing with her little toy and watching Crystal while rolling her eyes as she was enjoying her toy and watching the child at the same time. The baby was walking along and then she stepped right off the porch and fell onto the cement. She made a bash and it was at that right moment just before she had realized what had happened, the tears were just forming around her eyes just at that moment; Blue Belle raced right up and put her ears back and started licking the child immediately on the face until a laugh came out instead of a loud cry. It seemed the baby had forgotten what had happened.

Prayers for my little friend.....

I'm pretty sad today and kinda happy too. Well the reason I am sad is because my Friend Franchesca who has been on some heavy duty chemo treatments is really in need of a miracle. She was just taken off the chemo when the doctor noticed more cancer growing and a large tumor which she would need another major surgery. Her parents have decided against the surgery because she has already been through enough. She may be getting some radiation therapy too but I won't know until Saturday when I visit her. Sorry I haven't written in while, my mom has been building her own website (www.shoppingkharma.com) and will be writing somethings called Newsletters?. Anyway it's like a newspaper and she will be giving updates on her health and others, talking about enviroment, peace, and advice. I'm helping her and it's fun. Well the good news about my mom is that her cancer has not changed much, just a itsy bitsy bit. She was in the hospital for a whole week last week and I sure missed her, anyway, the doctor has decided to give her a 6 month break from chemo. We are celebrating that, but sad about little Franchesca. She is only 2 years old and has so much to deal with for a little baby girl. Mom is building a Prayer page for terminally ill children and pets too and anybody can visit and pray however they want to pray because my mom believes that everyone should have the freedom to believe in whatever religion they feel is best for them. Anyway enough with that, I did manage to get my CGC a few months ago and I can't get my TDI until after August. There is a very long wait for that. Blue Belle kisses!
Oh, on my very last page of my photos, mom put up a picture of me sitting in a bed of bluebells!

A Franchesca update......

Well Mom took me to the park and I got to run and play with another sheltie names Jewels. She was mahogany colored and we just zipped all over that park. There was this huge Presa Canario looking dog that kept trying to bite me and scare me, so I ran over to hide behind mom and she protected me. A baby pit bull puppy tried to bite me too and mom protected me.
She took me to the Pet Store for a bath after the park and it wasn't too bad. I like being clean and smelling good. I knew I was going to see Franchesca and I wanted to make extra sure that I was clean and smelled good for her.
We got over to her house around 8pm well after her dinner. We didn't bring Toonces because he was being mean all day and getting into lots of stuff. I'm a little shy I admit and I didn't want to over step my boundaries with this little girl. She didn't seem her usual self although at first she was happy to see me but I got too excited to see her so I gave her too many Blue Belle kisses. I think it overwhelmed her, but I couldn't help it. I was just so happy to see such a beautiful little girl who is about the same size as me. She looked like she could use some kisses. We got a few pictures together. Sometimes I'm afraid she will break but boy do I like giving her Blue Belle kisses. When she pulls away, I pull away and watch her carefully so that I don't get in her way or scare her. Well she will start chemo either after this surgery to install her port of shortly after. The medicine is really heavy duty. 2 of the drugs definately cause hair loss (Taxol and 1 that starts with an L? and she will be on Carboplatinum) She will get pretty sick and I hope to visit her and bring her some smiles because going through all of that she needs to smile.
She's 2 years old (1 year older than me) and she has to get all that scary medicine called chemo. I am thankful that she didn't seem like she was in any pain. She was recovering from a surgery on her spine to remove her tail bone. She will loose her hair from this chemo so we are just getting some good pictures of her with her pretty hair. Anyway, I want to visit with her again soon. She was really tired and irritable and we didn't want to keep her up too much longer. I will update some more later when I find out anything.
