Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

Birthday:
May 25th 2006

Likes:
Attention, belly rubs, chasing birds at the dog park, car rides, walking the aisles in Home Depot and pet stores

Pet-Peeves:
She's not big on getting wet, but she's learning to tolerate the rinses she gets after getting muddied up at the dog park!

Favorite Toy:
Booda bones; and really hard chew toys. Nothing soft/squeaky that she can destroy or make her sick.

Favorite Food:
Bravo: She's on the raw food diet. She loves raw produce, too.

Favorite Walk:
She loves the dog park where she chases birds. She also walks very well on a leash; we often go on neighborhood walks.

Best Tricks:
We rescued her on Sept 7, 2006 and she quickly learned to ring the bells to go onto the deck; she knows the dog door system; she knows "come," "go inside," "go outside," and "down."

Arrival Story:
We've owned Brittanys for 25 years. Our last Brittany, Katie Wumpas, died 8/2/06. We considered getting a rescued Brittany or Springer "some day," as I had trolled americanbrittanyrescue.org for years, and our Springer (Trooper) is a rescue from a local shelter. I'd pretty much decided to let Trooper be an only dog, as mopey as he's been since Katie died, when -- the day after my birthday -- we got a call that a foster home was needed for a stray mom and her pup. We couldn't take the mom, but took the pup as a foster family, with plans to adopt her out. It took us all of five seconds to fall in love with Scout and decide to give her a forever home with us.

Bio:
We don't know her real birthdate, so I made it the same month and day that we rescued her English Springer brother, Trooper.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun!

Christmas was great! Can it be almost a month ago??

I got TONS of toys! I am very toy oriented, more than any other Britt my parents have had. I live for toys! I live for P L A Y!!

But the best toy is . . . stones! I bring them in several at a time from the dog run. They're pretty big, too, and I like to chew them. So does my brother, Trooper. Mom and Dad can't figure out how to stop me of this habit. Any ideas? Until then, I'll be leaving stones all over the floor throughout the house!

Mom's afraid I'll swallow one, but I don't do that. I'll probably just crack my teeth. :( For such a smart dog, sometimes, I do stupid things.

I have to go now. Time to play! Well, it's ALWAYS time to play! Hey, I'm a puppy.

And I'm 31.0 pounds as of yesterday! I growed!

Hey, I'm Still Here!!

It's been awhile since I wrote. Hey, puppies are busy!

But here's what's been going on...

Six weeks ago I was diagnosed with mites. The kind I have is gotten only by the mom, so my mom must have had or still has them. Anyway, the mites were making my hair follicles weak, and I lost all my hair in two small places. I had to get dipped in smelly stuff. The vet did it, b/c it's time comsuming, tons of work, and did I mention very smelly?

My mites are gone now! After only four dips. It takes some dogs up to 12 dips, but not me!

Mom was amazed: every time I went to the vet, my tail would go nonstop, and in the lobby I always laid on my belly (with my long tail swishing the floor), and not bothering anyone (but very interested in the other dogs and people!) In the exam room, I behaved just as perfectly: nonstop wagging tail, and unless I was being poked/prodded/scraped, I laid on my side and napped! I love the vet! They always make a big deal when I come in: "Hey everyone! Scout's here!" and when I leave, I have to say goodbye to everyone before I walk out the door. "Bye Scout! We love you!" It's a totally fun place!

Ok, enough about that! Whew!

I am 100% puppy, I love to have fun, and torture my English Springer Spaniel brother, Trooper, who just stands there while I bite his leg or pull his ears. I love him, and I think he loves me. Or he could be a masochist.

Anywho...

Mom says that of all their Brittanys, I'm the calmest by far. She thinks that's Trooper's influence. And unlike the other dogs they've had, I sleep on my back a LOT. And at night, I sleep between mom's legs, which forces her to sleep on her back, which she's supposed to do.

Being a Brittany in this home is AWESOME! I love it, even though we haven't been able to go to the dog park in a week because of deep snow and wicked cold. Mom said maybe we can go later today after taking Dad to the airport bus.

Bye...I have to go play now!

Ok, so I got my stitches out on the 26th. Again, the vet noted that mom and dad rescued yet another great dog -- he really, really likes Trooper and me! And he said, "her tail never quits wagging!" Mom said that's because I'm always happy. I even wag when I'm sleeping!

I love everything and everyone!

Mom and dad recently went away for 5-1/2 days, and I spent the weekend at the kennel (and the rest at home, where we had dog sitters). When the kennel brought Trooper and me back, they said that Trooper and I are so fun! We love to play ball and chase, with anyone!

We go to the park a lot. I want to live there. Then I could run 24/7. I don't fetch balls like Trooper, but I do chase him. My parents are trying to interest me in the frisbee, but I'm not sure about that. Chasing Trooper is the b-e-s-t!

I ring the bells all the time to go onto the deck. Mom taught me that trick! Only, I kept ringing them all day, so mom takes the bells down when I'm supposed to stay inside. Darn.

I love to cuddle, and am very affectionate. Even more than Trooper! Last night I fell asleep on top of Mom while she was reading in bed. She's my favorite parent, but don't tell Dad. Anyway, whenever they're watching TV or reading in bed, I'm there. When it's my bedtime I go into my crate. I love my crate. Mom says it keeps me safe from monsters.

Did I tell you? I get the run of the house! I am so good. I know not to chew anything other than my toys. I'll be in one room, then suddenly up and run, then come back right away -- with a different toy! Then I get bored with that toy, and do it all over again. It's fun. As long as I'm with a human, I'm especially happy. I am so, sooooo glad at least Mom is home during the day almost every day. On weekdays, I get Sally, Peg and Tommy. Bonus!

Sally, Peg and Tommy love me a lot, too. Tommy likes to put me on his lap and rub my belly, and Sally is teaching me tricks like she taught Trooper. Peg always laughs at me, and tells mom what a good, smart little girl I am.

Trooper is the bestest brother in the world. But Mom said he shouldn't let me pull on his ears and legs so much. The other day he was limping, and Mom figured it was because I pulled his leg too much.

Sometimes I get a little rough with him because he's so docile. That's when I have to have a time out. It starts with mom waving the Snuggler (our name for a muzzle). She says, "Scout....snuggler?" and usually I run to my bed. No! Not the Snuggler! But if I keep bugging Trooper, I have to wear the Snuggler for 10 minutes, which in dog time is half a day!

I have to grow now. Mom's going to take me for a walk! Bye!
