Arrival Story: I had never been a dog owner before Richter, however my husband has always had cocker spaniels growing up, so he is partial to the breed. We were in the mall one day when we decided to take a look in a petstore. There was Richter as pudgy as could be, laying on his back with a chew stick hanging out of his mouth. Originally I had wanted a larger breed dog, but really, who can resist a cocker spaniel let alone a puppy?? We weren't sure if we were ready to own a dog yet, for we didn't even own a house. We watched him for a few minutes, then took a walk to discuss it. Obviously it was silly to even question it, because after a brief lunch we went back and asked to look at him. We took him into one of the play areas, and took turns holding him. Then we sat down on the bench and figured he would want to play with some toys or something! Guess what he did?? He sat on the bench, inbetween us, looking back and forth from one of us to the other, almost like saying, "So, are you gonna be my new mommy and daddy?? That would be cool, but I don't know if I will have enough room in my box for all 3 of us!! I might have to come to your house!". He was so laid back, that I was a little afraid he was ill or something, but turns out, that is just the way he is!!!! We brought him home that night!! He was the cutest thing, with a big pudgy belly and giant paddle paws!!
Bio: Well I think it's about time to update my bio, and what better time than my 9th birthday! Let's see....I live here in NJ with my family, my mommy, daddy, little human bruther Cole, and my doggie sister Macy. Me and Cole are best buds, we hang out all day together! My likes are going for walkies, snow, Kim the mail lady, table scraps, destuffing my toys, and denta-sticks. My dislikes are strangers, the UPS man, the FED-EX man, my bruther's assortment of Thomas the Train whistles, and being put outside by myself. I am a super sweet and gentle doggy, and my only weakness is barking at everything I see as a threat, which is anything from a leaf blowing accross the lawn, to a car slowing down in front of my house!! But all in all, mommy and daddy sure are happy to have us "watchdogs" to help them out around here!
Woof, wow it has been a really long time since I have written! I hope all my furiends are doing well! We are all good here, trying to keep cool in the dog days of Summer. I have really been bothered a lot by the heat this year. We had a few days that were dangerously hot, so when mommy, daddy, and my bruther were in the pool they made me and Macy get in just for a minute. Neither one of us like to get in the pool, but mommy said if we wanted to stay outside we had to get in and get wet.
Today we went to the groomer. Just as Mary was finishin us up, it started to thunder. Macy and I were in our crate, and Mary told mommy that as soon as it thundered I started barking, and both of us were bangin the door to get out. Mary let us out, and I was so nervous that I ran around the shop and crashed into a table and knocked everything that was on it flying! It was at that point that Mary called Mommy and told her we were ready! She wasn't mad at me, I think she just felt bad cuz I was so upset! I really do not like thunder, Macy doesn't either. So mommy and Cole were there shortly after to pick us up! I was happy to get home!
Tonight the best thing happened!! My little bruther talked our parents into eating dinner in the living room on tray tables! So daddy got the tables, and Cole went to pick up his plate to bring it out there and he dropped it!!! Chicken, rice, and cucumbers dumped all over the floor!! Once mommy got a good look and realized there wax no way to save the supper she let me and Macy clean it up!!! We got every morsel!! (Except for the cucumbers!).
What a great night!
With just 45 minutes to go til 2013 I am spending this night the best way I know how........curled up in a homemade quilt (from grandma) on my mommy's lap snoozin away!! Home safe and sound and nice and warm! Mommy, daddy and my brother went to a party earlier tonight at the aquarium!!! Cole had lots of fun, he danced, saw fireworks over the Delaware River, petted sting rays, saw sharks, and had a big dish of ice cream!!!! But everyone is home now, safe and sound, cuddled on the couch!! Happy New Year's everyone!!!!!!!!!
