Likes: sorry to say he was only playful for one day. After that he was sick enough only to sleep.
Pet-Peeves: Having pneumonia...
Favorite Food: He couldn't eat much on his own, was usually fed by me through a syringe.
Favorite Walk: I only brought him on one short walk the day I got him.
Arrival Story: (sigh)...It's a long, heartwrenching, irritating, disease accumulating story. But here goes...I bought Vlad the same place I bought ALL my others. Yes, that's right, at www.rodspuppylovekennel.com . However, I was going to have him shipped by ground through Transpet in Neosho, MO. That was the shipping company these breeders had normally used. Well the company got my pup mixed up with someone else's and sent mine to California!!! I live in Wisconsin!! So of course since the person who was delivering a batch of dogs to California certainly wouldn't turn around to deliver him where he belonged my little Vlad ended up staying at their kennel for an exta week until their next shipping day to WI and that was on Wednesdays. Well when I finally got him home he was fine the first day. But the next day was when I started noticing his breathing sounded raspy. So I took him to the vet and was sent home with some antibiotics hoping that would clear him up. However, his sickness was not going away and he wasn't eating on his own. I took him to the vet probably about five times within two weeks. One day I noticed he wasn't getting enough oxygen because he wasn't able to keep his balance and such. That was the day I took him to the Animal Referral Center. We all know what usually happens when we bring our pets there...I talked with a vet and she determined his prognosis as not good. I told them to do everything possible to save him and that I didn't care how much it cost. They did but his heart failed when they were inserting tubes into him. I sat there in the waiting room and heard the faint sounding voice say back to the vet techs "Thanks you guys". I knew it meant he didn't make it but with blind hope I still had to hear it from the vet. She walked into the room and told me he didn't make it. I have never cried harder than that in my life. And I have lost pets before this. I think it may have been the loss of one so young who never got a chance to live and because of the sweet sadness of knowing, I was the only one who really loved him. NEVER SHIP YOUR PETS VIA TRANSPET!! I always recommend an airplane. They are much faster and cheaper and aren't in cages with other dogs.
Bio: It makes me sad to even deal with Vlad's dogster page at times so for this reason I don't spend as much time on it, or at least I haven't in the past, as my other pups. I usually cry every time because I think about what more I could have done if only I had been more aggressive or pushed the vets to try more things etc.
