I'm not doing too well...

Dear Diary:

For the last month I have been confined to a crate. I don't really like it, but I know it is for the best. A month ago, my back went out. I have IVDD, or Invertebrate Disc Disease. I am not in any pain, so it's not too bad.

I am actually starting to improve. I can stand up on my own and take a few steps until I fall back down. I am getting stronger every day, and hopefully soon I will be my old self again.

Today is my birthday! I am 13 years old now, and later this month it will be 2 years with my new family. Things here are great! My owners have a new baby boy, and he is so funny! He gets lots of attention, and I like to sniff him and bark at him.

I find it weird that he is only a month old, but he is bigger than I am. Aren't humans funny?

1 Year in my new Home!

Dear Diary:

It has been 1 year today since I was rescued and came into my new home! I am so happy to be where I am!

I am much different than I was a year ago. I am not as afraid of people and the other dogs. I don't get into fights anymore either.

I am so happy that I have a great forever home! Thanks again to the great people at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta, Maine. A special thanks to Mandy and Putt Putt for being my special friends!

I'm 12!

Dear Diary:

A couple of weeks ago I turned 12 years old. Wow! I'm getting pretty old! I had a cool birthday party and even a cake! I had a birthday bone and some other treats too. Getting old isn't so bad when you get cool presents and treats!

Visit back at the Pound

Dear Diary:

I got to go visit Mandy at the Kennebec Valley Humane Society last week. She was so happy to see me! I didn't think she would remember me, but she did! It's been 9 months since I was rescued, and we were back at the shelter for a reason- to rescue 2 more dachshunds.

It was so cool to see so many old buddies, but the best thing was that I got to see Putt Putt again! he was happy to see me too! Mandy has my picture on her wall in her office in the shelter too, which is really cool.

Now, it was nice to go visit the shelter, but the pound is still the pound and it is still nice to have a great forever home. Now I have 2 new members of my family! Welcome Spartacus and Sadie!

Very Sad

Dear Diary:

Last month I wrote about our trip to New jersey and meeting some very nice people. Well, my Mommy's Mommy let me sit on her lap while she pet me. It was great! I felt so nice and warm while she stroked my fur and I fell asleep.

Well, a few weeks ago she passed away from cancer. My Mommy was very sad and upset and then she went away. I was very sad too. I will always remember our day together while she pet me and loved me.

We went on a trip with our Daddy to New Jersey so he could go to her funeral. The trip was nice, but it was long. We stayed in the nice hotel just like at Christmas time and I got to see the other nice people again that I had just met at Christmas. It is too bad that Mommy is so upset. She really loved her Mommy, just like I love mine. Some day when I am called to the Bridge I want to make my Mommy's Mommy feel special and warm just like my Mommy makes me feel. It is the least that I can do.

Road Trip

Dear Diary:

We took a long trip recently down to New Jersey. It was really fun! I met so many nice people. They liked me so much that they let me sit on their lap and pet me. I was nervous at first, but they were so nice to me I couldn't help but trust them. I hope that we go back again soon. I love all of the attention!

Merry Christmas!

Dear Diary:

I have much to be thankful for on this holiday season. I am living in a great home with a wonderful family. I have lots of fun brothers and a sister to play with. I have a warm bed to sleep in. I have food and water. But best of all, I have love. My family lovs me, and I never have to live on the street anymore. No matter what I get for Christmas, that will always be the greatest gift of all.
