Arrival Story:
Following my impulse to drive two hours to meet Patrick was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. When we met, it was love at first sight. He put his head on my shoulder and that's all she wrote.

Bio:
Patrick is my first sighthound, and I am surely hooked now! When the weather is cool and rainy he gets the "spirit of Scotland" in him and he runs around like a maniac! I feel such a connection with him, I can't explain why. The first thing I do every morning is take him for his walk. He really helps me get my days off to a great start, there is nothing that cheers me up quite as much as walking my hound. I am hoping to be able to eventually rescue another sighthound like a Borzoi or an Irish Wolfhound.

This morning someone asked if I was a Great Dane!

It happened again today! This morning we saw some people on our walk. A man simply pointed to me and said in a very authoritative voice, "Irish Wolfhound", and kept walking.

Oh well!

my mistaken identity

This morning we went for a walk, just like every morning. It was nice and cool outside... my favorite! We saw some people, and as usual they stopped and stared at me. I think I'm the biggest dog in the neighborhood so people really stop what they are doing to watch me walk by. I take it all in a stride.

There was one car who slowed down next to me and my mom as we were walking. It was a police car! The officer stuck his head out the window and was checking me out. Then he asked, "Is that an Irish Wolfhound?" ...Oh no, not again! Almost everyone I meet thinks I am a Wolfhound. I am not offended since I love my Irish cousins! But this happens to me all the time. Only one person ever has identified me correctly, and that made me pretty happy! I have also been mistaken for a Borzoi several times, and also a Greyhound, and some people even ask if I am a Great Dane!

I think I make a pretty good impression on people I meet, and so maybe they will tell their friends, "I met a very friendly and well-behaved dog today, he was a Scottish Deerhound!"
:-)
