Brings me the tennis ball to throw so Strider will go after the ball and drop what he had - then Otis nabs it. Cunning!!!

Arrival Story:
In May 2005, one of my co-workers was complaining of the dog she had adopted from a no kill rescue shelter..that he wasn't working out and was going to have to get rid of him. It was breaking my heart that this poor dog who had been abandoned and rescued was facing rejection again. I had been thinking about a pal for Strider (since Strider was not fully aware he was a dog and didn't know how to play with other dogs) so I agreed to take Otis. At this time Otis was about 10 months old and had been exhibiting behavior problems due to his current situation. Well, I brought him home Memorial Weekend 2005 to Strider. They went through their "I am the dominate dog" process for about 1 day then settled in as best buddies. Otis did have some separation anxiety problems at first, but now he is well adjusted and very happy and getting very, very big.

Bio:
Otis is a talker. He starts out with a deep rumble and then really let's me know exactly what he is thinking. He always looks so intense. So I always call him to me and let him tell me all about what is troubling him and hopefully can resolve it.

Acting Normal (at last)

Otis has experienced too many changes in his young life; but for over a year now he has been part of our family. He finally seems to be happy and content. And tonight you showed your true fun loving side. With your focused determination to keep all the goodies away from Strider and just for yourself, I watched you try to cram both a rolled chewie treat and a tennis ball in your mouth. And after 3 tries you succeeded. Otis is King of the Toys!!!! And then you did something I have never seen you do before (Strider does it often). You did the crazy doggie dance!!! You poised as if ready to play and then you spun around and then dashed down the hall and ran back and did it again and again. You wild and crazy dog, Otis. You are finally letting your hair down and becoming a normal, happy 2 year old!!!!
