Coop loves to have his tummy rubbed. The best treat is to be woken up gently in the morning with a backrub and then a tummyrub which lets him wake up slowly. Then a slow trot to the kitchen for kibble and an apple.

He is head-shy from being hit in his previous life, so he does not like his walking vest put over his head, although he is getting better about it.

Favorite Toy:
He loves to tear paper up and will sit by the coffee table and slowly slide a magazine off and stealthily take it to his favorite chair to lick and tear apart.

Favorite Food:
Pumpkin in a can is a favorite, cottage cheese and yogurt. Apples and pears are treats too.

Favorite Walk:
He loves going to downtown Corvallis in the car and then walking down the riverwalk where he gets lots of attention from folks in the park.

Best Tricks:
He will sit on your lap, put his front paws on your shoulders and then go nose-t0-nose with you. It is so endearing when he looks right in your eyes and then licks your face.

Arrival Story:
We adopted Cooper on Friday, September 1st, 2006 from the Greenhill Humane Society in Eugene, Oregon. We had to wait almost three weeks while he got over giardia and some eye and ear infections. But the wait was worth it and we whisked him home to join his new brother, Dozer, our Pembroke Corgi, who has actually been a good sport about this new little man joining our family.

2006 was a sad year for Cooper. Beginning in February of 2006, he was surrendered to a shelter by his original owners saying they could not keep him. Cooper remained at that shelter until his time was running short and he was slated to be euthanized. Greenhill Humane then took him (a no-kill shelter) and adopted him out in July 2006. The inidividuals who adopted him must have decided afterwards they really did not want a dog because they released him on the street where he was found by Animal Control and returned to Greenhill. He was adopted out a second time to an individual who was not able to keep Coop, so he was returned to Greenhill again. Cooper then became ill with ear and eye infections, got over those and then came down with giardia and coccidia. Greenhill had planned to send Cooper up to the Portland Humane Society in the hopes they could find a home there. Being over 7 years old they felt he needed a wider group of people to see him in order to find a forever home. But they were wrong. Cooper was waiting for us to find him so he could come home at last.

Good-Bye Old Friend

Our pal Rascal left us yesterday and headed to the Rainbow Bridge. We didn't have time to say good-bye and our hearts are very sad tonight. We told the squirrels they could win tonight because we just don't want to fight. Tonight we remember how fun Rascal was - he was a rescue too and he made his pawrents so happy in Iowa when he came to live with them. He was just 12 years old - but for a corgi, a good, long life.

We met Rascal on and while we never met in person, because he lived in Iowa and we hang out in Oregon, we felt like he was an old friend. We dog-mailed and shared pictures and got to be great pals. So we say "Good-bye" old friend! We will see you on the Bridge in the twinkling of an eye. Lots of prayers for your parents tonight - but don't worry, we will take good care of them for you.

Love, Dozer, Dottie and Cooper (Rascal's page)

It's my tenth birthday today! Can you believe it? Where has the time gone? Pippin the Pug and I have the same birthday so it is an extra special day!

Today I am thankful for my family, all the wonderful food I get, my brother Dozer and my sister, Dottie.

Mum took Dozer and I for a walk to my favorite park and we had a fine time. We walked the whole circuit and just smelled at the pee-mail and felt the warm sun on our backs. It was a good time!

Thank you Dogster for my birthday cake and candle, that makes it a special day for me :)

This is the day Mummy and Daddy took me home from the shelter so they made it my birthday too. Thank you Greenhill Animal Shelter for saving me and finding my pawrents for me. They are the best!
