Someone sent this to me nad I thought it is so true i would pass it along.

The Bond

It's hard for some to understand,
the bond between a dog and a man.
Yet others relate to what you feel,
because they too, have felt, the love so real.

If only they knew the warmth in the eyes,
of our tail wagging friends, that stand by our sides.
They stay beside us in protection and in strength,
yet still can lay in our arms the times they are weak.

Regardless of our mood, appearance or wealth,
they stay even more loyal in sickness and in health.
There's no judgment or criticism, no lies or deceit,
their love is unconditional as they lay by our feet.

If they fall ill, we hold on so tight,
with medications and love we put up a fight.
It is our time to return their years of loyalty and love,
unless another decision is made by God up above.

When they lay down their heads and raise their weak paw,
they let us know, we've both given it our all.
Their life here on earth was the fullest we could give,
as they rise in puppy spirit and cross the .

They have no more pain and confusion, no worries, no fears,
just the memories that show deep in our tears.
The day will come, the bridge we will cross,
and at that moment, the time apart will be lost.

We will be reunited with tears of joy and laughter,
Never again a separation, together, ever after.

Why dogs do not live as long as people...

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family there were no miracles left for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.

We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why." Startled, we all turned to him.

What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

Zoso's last day

Zoso spent his last day on his favorite pillow with someone by his side at all times. He watch the children playing out front of the house which he loved to do. He had family come by to say their goodbyes and many of the neighborhood kids and adults came to visit him as word spread about his illness and this being his last weekend here. He was that kind of dog. He leaves behind a lot of family and friends grieving his loss, but happy that he isn't suffering anymore. He died while we were petting him and talking to him and telling him how much we loved him. So he was at home with the people he loved most. I guess we should all be so lucky.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

Bad news for Zoso:(

The latest update is that we have him for the weekend. Picked him up Friday afternood. There is nothing else to be done. The vet said for us to take him home to say goodbye. So we are keeping him as comfortable as possible and he has had about 33-35 people, lots of kids, come to say good bye to him. He has wagged his tail at times and seems to be happy to be home and lay on the front porch with us watching the kids play and such. The vet is going to do an autopsy on him for free because he wants to know what happened as much as we do. He said that Zoso is a very special dog and that all the stuff at the hospital fell in love with him. Course we already knew he is special. We will be taking him in Monday to be put down if he makes it through the weekend. He is still throwing up but doesn't seem to be suffering otherwise. After the autopsy, he will be creamated and his ashes spread in the mmountains near were we live.

Thanks to everyone for the support for this sweet little boy,

We spoke to the Vet this morning and his kidney has shown no improvement. His stats are still way off the charts. Complete failure. Also his white cell counts are still dropping. He is throwing up more bile then he was. We will go see him this afternoon. It appears that by Friday or Saturday, ubless there is a miracle and he lives that long we will have to put him down. We are still not ruling out a miracle. Sp prayers and psoitive thoughts are apprecaited.
Thank you,
Missy Marie, Zoso's older sister misses him already....and asks that people keep praying for him.

Spoke to vet this morning. He says that his white cell count is very low as well. he is still in tital renal failure. So based on his white cell count he thinks it has been progressing for about 5 - 6 months. He made it through the nite so that is good. Vet is recommending we take Missy in for testing as well, just to be sure. So we will go this afternoon and visit Zoso while there. We will also take his favorite toy and blanket.

Please anyone that reads this. Zoso needs all the prayers he can get. He is in the vet hospital with total kidney failure. The vet said he could die at anytime. They have him on I.V fluids and in 3 or 4 days, if it makes it, we wil know if he will recover or have to be put down. Our whole family would do anything we can to help him, but right now what he needs most are prayers! Please pray for him. He is the sweetest, smartest, sillies and most loyal good little boy ever. I know everyone here knows the heartbreak we are facing right now and I hope you keep him in your prayers. I will update as soon as we know more.
Thank you,
Zoso' very scared family

As you can see from my pictures I am a Broncos fan. I can't believe what happened this weekend to them, on their own field no less. I went on a cookie eating spree to help with the depression. But the only escape was changing the channel! Missy Marie say's I need to suck it up and act like a manly dog, she said She's a SF49er fan and knows real pain, whatever that means. Oh well. I hope the Steelers win the superbowl since Me and Missy both like them too. Gotta go there are 30 mile an hour winds I hear noises and gotta go check them out.
