Best Tricks:
Hey, I'm only 8 weeks old, but I flew on a plane for 9 hours and didn't soil my crate! (Don't laugh, it's not easy when you have a tiny bladder like mine.)

Arrival Story:
Mom lost my brother Timber in July. It was very unexpected and mom was very depressed. Dad told her to get another puppy, so mom went looking and found a great breeder. She just happened to have a litter that was born on July 6th. Mom asked if the woman thought they would make good service/therapy dogs and the lady said, "Of course, both the sire and the dam are therapy dogs. Well that was all mom had to hear. When I was 7 weeks old some lady came and gave all my brothers and sisters some test. I think it was called a "temperature" test or somethin' like that. It's supposed to tell if we are really active or just calm. The lady knew mom wanted a service dog, so she picked me! (I knew I was the best!) My mom and dad picked me up at the airport and brought me home. My brother Austin is HUGE! I hope if I eat all my food I will grow up to be just like him.

Bio:
I live in sunny Southern California. (Man it's hot here! I'm glad mom and dad have air conditioning!)

Pet Smart-People Dumb

Mom took me to Pet Smart last night. I understand why they call it that. Pet Smart is short for the full name of the store, "Pet Smart-People Dumb"

I went to the store in my Service Dog In Training outfit. Now, I admit I look pretty darn cute in my outfit and people tend to come over 'cause I'm so big and most of them have never seen a Shiloh before. But, I truly had no idea that so many people can't read! I mean, it says right there on my vest "In Training-Don't Pet" and I see people lookin' at the patch, but they go ahead and pet me anyway!!!

Last night, a white shaggy dog gets dragged over to me by his person. She seemed intelligent...I mean, she had a smart look in her eyes. Once she got over to me she took one look at my vest and said, "Wow, a Service Dog in Training! Oh he looks so soft" and then she reaches down and starts pettin' me! I looked up at mom and she just smiled and tried to explain to the lady that when the dogs are training it's always best to ask before you pet them. The lady just kept pettin' me and said, "Oh yeah, I see where that might be distracting for the dog" like the rule applied to everyone but her!

I looked over at the white shaggy guy and he was REALLY embarassed! He kind of rolled his eyes and said, "She's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but she's a good person. She feeds me and loves me and that's just about the most I can ask of her."

I told him, "Yeah, she seems nice enough. Too bad though, 'cause if she was smarter you might be able to get into agility or somethin' really cool."

He just shook his head and said, "Well, whatta ya gunna do. Ya get what ya get when you rescue a human. She does give a good belly rub though"

Belly rubs are important, but I don't think I'd like to be with an illiterate human. Then again it might be fun...I mean they would never know the sign says, "Keep off the grass"

Back to Work

Mom started back to work a few days ago. What a bummer. I like spending the day with mom. Now when dad leaves he leaves me alone in the house. It's been really hot here. It was 109 yesterday! There's really nothing to do in the house by myself except sleep, so that's what I do. Of course that means I'm awake at night. And it's the strangest thing. During the day the corner of our yard has beautiful trees and plants, but at night there are dark monsters over there. I try to protect mom and dad by warning them that the monsters are there, but Dad yells at me to be quiet. Doesn't he know I'm trying to save his life?????

My big brother Austin thinks I'm nuts. He says those are the trees but they look different 'cause it's night time. But I think Austin is getting old and he can't see very well, 'cause those things look like monsters to me! I'm not gunna take a chance with my mom and dad's life so I'll just keep barking. That way the monsters won't get to the house. Besides mom appreciates me, by 3:00 in the morning she always lets me back in the house and has a long talk with me. I wonder why she looks so sleepy?

July 6th was my one year Woodfday! I had a great day. Mom says I'm a little skinny so she bought me a chicken and I got to eat the whole thing!!!! Yummy! But I still don't understand why there was a candle in it...I mean, I'm on a raw diet. She's not supposed to cook anything. Good thing I blew it out really fast so it didn't have time to cook my Woofday Chicken!
Timber II who is now one!
